Swift action by City Kotwali Police; accused was threatening pedestrians at a public place

The City Kotwali Police arrested a man for allegedly brandishing a knife in a public place and creating panic among passersby in the city. A sharp steel knife was recovered from the accused, and a case has been registered against him under the Arms Act.
Action Taken Under Ongoing Police Drive
Under the direction of Superintendent of Police Ankita Sharma, guidance of Additional Superintendent of Police Kirtan Rathore, and supervision of City Superintendent of Police Alexander Kiro, a continuous drive is being conducted against anti-social elements in the district.
During the night of April 26, police received information from an informer that a युवक was threatening people while waving a knife behind Hotel Wilson Manav Mandir.
Accused Nabbed After Brief Chase
Acting promptly on the tip-off, the City Kotwali police team reached the spot and surrounded the area. On noticing the police, the accused attempted to flee but was swiftly apprehended by the team.
During the search, police recovered a sharp steel knife measuring approximately 13 inches from his possession. As the accused failed to produce any valid authorization, the weapon was seized.
Identification and Legal Proceedings
The arrested accused has been identified as Tarun Kankshi (26), a resident of Tankapara Railway Crossing, Rajnandgaon. A case has been registered against him under Sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act (Crime No. 231/2026).
He was arrested at around 10:30 PM on April 26 and later produced before the court, from where he was sent to judicial custody.
Police Team Involved
Inspector Milan Singh, Head Constable Sandeep Chauhan, Constables Srinivas Rao, Lilendra Patel, and Prakash Kurre played a significant role in the successful operation.
Police officials stated that strict action against individuals disturbing public peace and carrying illegal weapons will continue in the future.
