The State Government’s Mahtari Vandan Yojana is emerging as a significant step towards strengthening women economically and socially in Rajnandgaon district. The scheme has brought visible changes in the lives of hardworking women by providing them with consistent financial support and a sense of security.

Under the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, eligible women receive ₹1,000 per month directly into their bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). This monthly assistance is helping women move steadily towards economic self-reliance, while also enabling them to better focus on their children’s education and healthcare needs.

At present, nearly 2.55 lakh women in Rajnandgaon district are benefiting from the scheme, with an amount of approximately ₹24 crore being transferred every month. Since the launch of the scheme in March 2024, a total of 21 instalments amounting to around ₹507 crore have been disbursed to beneficiaries.

The scheme covers a wide section of society, including married women above the age of 21, elderly women, widows and divorced women. For many beneficiaries facing difficult life circumstances, the Mahtari Vandan Yojana has become a symbol of hope and dignity.

Officials noted that the scheme has not only improved the financial condition of women but has also enhanced their confidence and decision-making power within families. By ensuring regular and transparent financial assistance, the initiative is playing a crucial role in promoting women empowerment and inclusive development in the district.
