On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the story of Nirmala Koliyare, a resident of Kumarda village in Chhuria block of Rajnandgaon district, highlights how the Mahtari Vandan Yojana has brought a meaningful change to the lives of rural women. The financial support provided under the scheme has helped Nirmala strengthen her family’s financial stability and secure a better future for her daughter.

Nirmala Koliyare shared that the initiative launched by the Chhattisgarh government has provided her with much-needed economic support. With the monthly financial assistance, she is now able to meet household needs more effectively and plan for her child’s future with greater confidence.

She said that after the launch of the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, she applied to avail its benefits. Since March 10, 2024, she has been receiving ₹1,000 per month under the scheme. This regular assistance has brought renewed hope and financial relief to her family.

Determined to use the amount for her daughter’s future, Nirmala opened an account under the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana in her daughter’s name. Earlier, due to financial constraints, she could deposit only ₹1,000 annually in the account. However, with the support received from the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, she is now able to deposit ₹500 every month, amounting to ₹6,000 annually.

This steady saving has strengthened her confidence about her daughter’s education and long-term security. Along with investing in her child’s future, Nirmala also said that the financial assistance allows her to purchase nutritious fruits and vegetables for her family, leading to better health and improved living conditions.

According to Nirmala, the Mahtari Vandan Yojana has proved to be a blessing for women like her. Beyond financial assistance, the scheme is helping women become more financially aware, independent and empowered.

Her story reflects how welfare initiatives aimed at women’s empowerment can transform lives at the grassroots level, enabling mothers to invest in their children’s future while improving their family’s overall well-being.
