“One Who Conquers the Mind is Truly Powerful”: Spiritual Teachings Shine at Shri Devi Bhagwat Katha in Rajnandgaon

The sixth day of the Shri Devi Bhagwat Katha, hosted by the Maheshwari Samaj at Gayatri Shaktipeeth, unfolded with an atmosphere of devotion and introspection as Shastri Ishwarchand Ji Vyas delivered soul-stirring messages to a captivated audience.

In his spiritual discourse, Shastri Ji emphasized that true strength lies in conquering one’s own mind. “Everyone is surrounded by desires like lust, anger, pride, and greed. To rise above them, one must first win over their own mind,” he said.

He reminded the gathering that the things which come to us effortlessly—like life or wealth—often leave us just as effortlessly. “Therefore, it is essential to make meaningful use of such blessings before they disappear,” he advised.

Highlighting the three stages of wealth, Shastri Ji stated:

“Wealth can be used in only three ways—charity, enjoyment, or destruction. If you cannot give, you will only indulge, and eventually, it will be lost.”
He urged attendees to develop a spirit of giving, warning that misused or unused wealth holds no value in the long run.

Touching upon the concept of illusion or ‘maya’, he explained that all human beings live under its influence. “Desires never truly vanish. We must remain engaged in regular spiritual practice and sattvic living to reduce their impact,” he noted.

One of the profound takeaways from his teachings was respect for all deities. “There is no division among the gods. Worship the deity of your choice, but never speak ill of others. Doing so will displease all,” he warned.

Speaking on the theme of liberation, Shastri Ji said, “When a soul attains true knowledge, the illusion disappears, and the path to moksha (liberation) becomes clear.”

The gathering was also informed about the upcoming events in the ongoing katha:

  • On Saturday, April 5, Shastri Ji will narrate the tale of The Five Forms of Nature from 3:00 PM to 6:30 PM.
  • On Sunday, April 6, the concluding ritual ‘Purnahuti’ will be held at 11:00 AM, followed by Mahaprasadi (community feast).
  • On Monday, April 7, a visarjan yatra (farewell procession) will be taken out from Gayatri Shaktipeeth at 3:00 PM.

Maheshwari Samaj President Mr. Pawan Daga expressed gratitude to all the devotees and volunteers for their enthusiastic participation and extended a warm invitation to the public for the final days of the katha.

The spiritual event continues to draw people from all walks of life, offering them not just religious knowledge but also life-transforming insights rooted in ancient Indian philosophy.
