A grand public celebration was held at Shivnath Vatika in Rajnandgaon on Tuesday to mark the birthday of Dr. Raman Singh, former Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh and current Speaker of the State Legislative Assembly. The event witnessed an overwhelming turnout of BJP leaders, party workers, social organizations, professors, and citizens from across the state, who gathered to extend their heartfelt wishes to the veteran leader.

In his emotional address, Dr. Raman Singh expressed gratitude to the people for their unwavering faith and support throughout his political journey.
“Whatever I am today is because of your trust and strength,” he said. “With your blessings, I have had the privilege of serving as Chief Minister thrice, Assembly Speaker, and Union Minister. The vision of holistic development we shared for Chhattisgarh was realized because of the people’s participation.”
Reflecting on his tenure, Dr. Singh highlighted the remarkable progress made by the state in the fields of roads, electricity, health, education, and welfare schemes, and voiced concern that the momentum had slowed in recent years. “Now, under Vishnudev Sai’s leadership, the BJP government is once again moving forward with the people’s trust — through initiatives like paddy procurement and the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, the state is regaining its development trajectory,” he remarked.
Dr. Singh lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling him a global statesman who elevated India’s standing on the world stage.
“Modi ji has served the nation tirelessly — 12 years as Gujarat’s Chief Minister and over 13 years as Prime Minister — without taking a single day’s leave. In his 25 years of public service, he has shown that India is a symbol of strength, service, and values,” he said, drawing applause from the crowd.
Mayor Madhusudan Yadav, addressing the gathering, praised Dr. Singh’s immense contribution to the city’s growth.
“Rajnandgaon reached new heights under Dr. Raman Singh’s leadership. Be it as MLA, MP, Union Minister, or Chief Minister — he always prioritized public service. The establishment of the Rajnandgaon Medical College remains one of his landmark contributions to health and education in the region,” Yadav noted.
Senior BJP leader Khubchand Parakh delivered an inspiring speech, describing Dr. Singh as a “true people’s leader” who transformed Chhattisgarh’s development landscape.
“He ignited the flame of growth that continues to illuminate the state today. His ₹1-per-kg rice scheme symbolized his compassion and vision — ensuring that no one in Chhattisgarh sleeps hungry,” Parakh said.
He added, “From a councillor to Chief Minister and Union Minister, Dr. Singh has remained humble and connected to every worker. His simplicity, sensitivity, and dedication make him a rare leader in today’s politics.”
The event was also attended by MP Santosh Pandey, former ministers Rajesh Munat and Pradeep Gandhi, leaders like Yogesh Mishra, Yashwant Jain, Vinod Khandekar, Komal Singh Rajput, and numerous BJP workers and social representatives, who joined in wishing Dr. Raman Singh a long and healthy life.
