District Administration Seizes 615 Bags of Illegally Transported Paddy from Maharashtra

Two trucks intercepted near inter-state border; confiscation process initiated as per rules

Acting on the instructions of Collector Mr. Jitendra Yadav, the district administration has achieved a major success in its ongoing drive to curb illegal transportation of paddy. During a late-night inspection on January 1, 2026, revenue department teams intercepted two trucks carrying paddy illegally from Maharashtra into Chhattisgarh.

The action was taken around 9 pm in border areas adjoining Maharashtra, where a special inspection drive was underway. Revenue officials stopped two suspicious vehicles coming from Salekasa in Maharashtra towards Chhattisgarh via the Kothitola–Karutola route.

Upon inspection, truck bearing registration number MH 11 AL 4288 was found carrying 315 bags of paddy, while another truck with registration number MH 49-0272 was found loaded with 300 bags of paddy. When questioned, the drivers and vehicle owners failed to produce any valid documents related to the transportation of paddy, including mandi receipts or other mandatory permits.

As no legal documents were presented, the officials seized both vehicles along with the entire consignment of 615 bags of paddy. The seized paddy and vehicles have been kept under safe custody.

Collector Mr. Jitendra Yadav has directed officials to maintain strict surveillance along district borders to prevent illegal transportation of paddy from other states. In accordance with legal provisions, the process of confiscating both the seized paddy and vehicles in favour of the government has been initiated.

The district administration reiterated that it remains fully alert to curb illegal paddy trade and transportation. Strict action will continue against middlemen and those involved in unlawful movement of agricultural produce, officials said.
