Mining Department Intensifies Action Under Collector’s Directive; Tractors Involved in Illegal Transport Handed Over to Police

Acting on the directives of Collector Jitendra Yadav, the Mining Department in Rajnandgaon has intensified its crackdown on illegal mining and transportation activities across the district. In a fresh operation conducted on Tuesday, officials carried out surprise inspections in multiple villages under Dongargarh tehsil, leading to action against those involved in unauthorized sand transport.
The inspection drive covered several locations including Peteshri, Alabeera, Jamri, Mudpar, Paragaon Kala, Paragaon Khurd, Murmunda, and Matekata. During the operation, the mining team identified multiple cases of illegal sand transportation and took immediate enforcement action.
Vehicles Seized, Cases Registered
Three tractors involved in the illegal transportation of sand were seized during the कार्रवाई. The vehicles, belonging to residents of Peteshri village, were found transporting sand without valid authorization:

- A John Deere tractor owned by Hemant Sinha (Chassis No. IPY 5050 DLSG 063372) with a green trolley
- A John Deere tractor owned by Komal Sinha with a red trolley
- A John Deere tractor owned by Ram Bilas Sahu (Chassis No. IPY 5050 DCSG 063285) with a green trolley
All seized vehicles have been handed over to the Tumdibod Police Station for further legal proceedings.
Legal Action Under Mining Laws
Authorities confirmed that all cases are being processed under the provisions of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act. Officials reiterated that strict legal action will be taken against individuals involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals.
Preventive Measures and Monitoring
To curb such activities, the administration has initiated awareness measures in rural areas, including public announcements (munadi) in villages warning against illegal mining practices. The Mining Department has also stepped up regular patrolling and surveillance to prevent violations.

Zero Tolerance Approach
The जिला प्रशासन has made it clear that it will continue to adopt a zero-tolerance approach towards illegal mining, which not only causes environmental damage but also results in significant revenue loss to the government.
