Strict Action Ordered Against Traffic Rule Violators and Vehicles Parked in No-Parking Zones

District Collector Jitendra Yadav chaired a meeting of the District Road Safety Committee at the Collectorate Conference Hall to review measures aimed at preventing road accidents and strengthening road safety across the district.
During the meeting, the Collector emphasized the need for focused efforts to reduce road accident fatalities and directed officials to ensure adequate safety arrangements at accident-prone locations.
Safety Measures to Be Strengthened on Highways and Major Roads
The Collector instructed concerned departments to install speed breakers, signboards, reflectors, and high-mast lights at identified accident-prone stretches along national highways, state highways, and other major roads.
He stressed that road safety is not solely the responsibility of the administration and requires active participation from citizens as well. He called for extensive public awareness campaigns to encourage compliance with traffic regulations and promote responsible driving behavior.
Strict Monitoring of No-Parking Zones
Highlighting the risks posed by unauthorized roadside parking, Collector Jitendra Yadav directed officials to conduct regular inspections of vehicles parked in designated no-parking zones along national highways and other important roads in the district.
He instructed authorities to take stringent action against violators, noting that haphazard parking obstructs traffic flow and significantly increases the risk of accidents.

Helmet Enforcement and Traffic Discipline
The Collector placed special emphasis on increasing awareness among two-wheeler riders regarding the importance of wearing helmets and directed officials to take strict action against those found riding without protective headgear.
He noted that helmets play a crucial role in reducing the severity of injuries and fatalities in road accidents.
In addition, he directed officials to intensify awareness campaigns on:
- Mandatory use of seat belts
- Adherence to prescribed speed limits
- Avoiding drunk driving
- Refraining from mobile phone use while driving
The Collector also instructed enforcement agencies to carry out regular challan drives against motorists violating traffic regulations.
Road Safety Initiatives Reviewed
During the meeting, the Regional Transport Officer presented a detailed review of ongoing road safety initiatives in the district, including:
- Current road accident statistics
- Identification of accident-prone black spots
- Public awareness programmes
- Enforcement and traffic regulation measures
Officials discussed strategies to further strengthen road safety infrastructure and improve compliance with traffic laws.
Senior Officials Attend Meeting
The meeting was attended by District Panchayat CEO Suruchi Singh, Additional Collectors C L Markandey and Prem Prakash Sharma, Municipal Commissioner Atul Vishwakarma, along with officials from the Public Works Department, Police Department, Health Department, and other concerned agencies.
