Road Safety Committee Meeting Focuses on Reducing Fatalities, Enforcing Helmet Rules, and Removing Stray Cattle from City Roads

District Collector Jitendra Yadav convened a meeting of the District Road Safety Committee today at the Collectorate conference hall to review ongoing measures for improving road safety and reducing accident-related fatalities.
During the meeting, the Collector instructed officials to identify and mark accident-prone “black spots” across the district. He emphasized that locations with a history of accidents, or those with high risk potential, must be prioritized for immediate repair and rectification work.
Highlighting the need to curb road fatalities, the Collector called for strict enforcement of traffic regulations. He directed authorities to take firm action against individuals riding without helmets and to intensify enforcement under the Motor Vehicles Act. Awareness campaigns were also encouraged to educate citizens on the importance of wearing helmets and following safety norms.

Addressing another key concern, Collector Yadav instructed the Municipal Corporation Commissioner to implement effective measures for removing stray cattle from city roads. He ordered an increase in the number of workers responsible for relocating the animals to safe enclosures and suggested that fines be imposed on negligent cattle owners.
District Transport Officer Anand Sharma briefed the meeting on the current initiatives undertaken for road safety. The meeting was attended by District Panchayat CEO Suruchi Singh, Additional Collectors C.L. Markandey and Prem Prakash Sharma, Municipal Commissioner Atul Vishwakarma, DSP Tanushree Thakur, Executive Engineer Chaurasia, Traffic TI Navratan Kashyap, NH Authority representative Mohit, and other officials.
