To promote nutritional awareness and ensure holistic child development, Collector Mr. Sanjay Agrawal flagged off the Poshan Pakhwada Rath (Nutrition Fortnight Awareness Vehicle) from the Collectorate premises. The initiative is part of the Poshan Pakhwada campaign organized by the Department of Women and Child Development from April 8 to April 22.
Decorated with banners and posters carrying messages like “Sab Saath Aayenge, Har Baccha Suposhit Banayenge” (Together we will ensure every child is well-nourished), the mobile awareness vehicle will travel across project offices, anganwadi centers, and villages to disseminate information on child nutrition and healthy practices.
Speaking at the launch, Collector Agrawal emphasized the importance of community participation in combating malnutrition and promoting nutritional well-being. He stressed that public awareness is key to ensuring all children fall under the “well-nourished” category.
Also present at the event were District Panchayat CEO Ms. Suruchi Singh and District Programme Officer of the Women and Child Development Department, Ms. Gurpreet Kaur.
Ms. Gurpreet Kaur informed that the Poshan Pakhwada will culminate on April 22 and will include a series of awareness drives, rallies, health-based activities, and special events aligned with a health and nutrition calendar. The focus will also be on educating pregnant women about nutritious diets during the first 1,000 days of life — a crucial period for a child’s development.
Anganwadi centers are being monitored through the Poshan Tracker tool, and activities under the theme “Nutrition and Education Together” are underway across the district. Additional initiatives during the fortnight include cycle and bike rallies, nutrition awareness camps, anemia prevention workshops, and sessions on childhood obesity management under the Hamar Swasth Laika campaign.
