Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) Dr. Netram Navratan reviewed the progress of all national health programmes and departmental schemes being implemented by the Health Department in Dongargaon development block.

During the review meeting, he assessed the targets set for each programme, achievements so far, progress of activities and challenges being faced at the field level.

Focus on Maternal and Child Healthcare

Reviewing the registration and health check-ups of pregnant women, Dr. Navratan directed officials to ensure timely registration, regular antenatal examinations, early identification of high-risk pregnancies and appropriate treatment.

He also instructed health workers to identify children and pregnant women who had missed vaccination and ensure 100 per cent coverage.

Under the TB-Free India Campaign, officials were directed to actively identify suspected tuberculosis patients, conduct timely sputum tests, initiate treatment and regularly monitor patients undergoing treatment.

For the leprosy case detection campaign, the CMHO stressed door-to-door surveys to identify suspected cases, ensure timely examination and treatment, and increase community awareness about leprosy.

Instructions on MDA, Malaria Control and Child Health

Under the Mass Drug Administration (MDA) programme, officials were asked to ensure that all eligible beneficiaries take the prescribed medicines.

For malaria control, the focus was placed on testing patients with fever, providing timely treatment and preventing mosquito-borne diseases.

The Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) teams were instructed to conduct regular health examinations of children in schools and Anganwadi centres and ensure necessary treatment and referrals.

Concern Over Poor Performance in Sputum Testing and NCD Programme

During the review, Dr. Navratan expressed displeasure over the low number of sputum tests conducted by certain employees against their assigned targets. He directed officials to fix responsibility for the shortfall.

Reviewing the Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD) programme, he instructed Community Health Officers (CHOs) and concerned Primary Health Centre (PHC) in-charges with low achievement to take their targets seriously.

He also called for accelerating the screening, examination and treatment of eligible beneficiaries under the NCD programme and completing all assigned targets within the stipulated period.
