Chhattisgarhi Cuisine Festival Organized at Rajnandgaon’s Chowpatty as Part of Silver Jubilee Celebrations

As part of the state-wide silver jubilee celebrations marking 25 years of Chhattisgarh’s formation, the Rajnandgaon Municipal Corporation hosted a grand Chhattisgarhi Cuisine Festival at Chowpatty on Saturday.

Mayor Madhusudan Yadav, accompanied by his wife Karuna Yadav, inaugurated the festival by cutting the ribbon and visiting stalls set up by women’s self-help groups. The event highlighted the rich culinary heritage of Chhattisgarh, featuring authentic delicacies such as chila, fara, chausela, thethri, khurmi, and more.

Prominent officials and dignitaries including District Panchayat CEO Suruchi Singh, Municipal Corporation Chairman Topendra Singh Verma, Leader of Opposition Santosh Pilley, former Mayor Ajit Jain, MP representative Devsharan Sen, Commissioner Atul Vishwakarma, and SDM Khem Lal Verma joined the Mayor in touring the stalls and interacting with participants.

Speaking on the occasion, Mayor Yadav said:

“Chhattisgarh has entered its 25th year of formation, and this silver jubilee year is being celebrated with programs that showcase our culture, traditions, cuisine, and festivals. Today’s event at Chowpatty reflects our efforts to bring Chhattisgarh’s rich culinary heritage to the people.”

Alongside traditional foods, C-Mart also showcased stalls featuring millet, ragi, and other local products from Chhattisgarh. Citizens enthusiastically savored the offerings, appreciating the flavors of regional cuisine.

Municipal Commissioner Atul Vishwakarma informed that the festival was organized under the state government’s directive to mark the silver jubilee year. He added that several more programs will be organized throughout the year to highlight Chhattisgarh’s culture and identity.

The event saw active participation from local representatives, engineers, health officials, and the Urban Livelihood Mission team. The women’s self-help groups, who prepared and presented the delicacies, were at the heart of the celebration.

The program concluded with widespread appreciation for the Municipal Corporation’s efforts to organize a vibrant cultural and culinary event that brought together citizens, leaders, and women entrepreneurs of Rajnandgaon.
