In a significant step towards enhancing agricultural sustainability and farmer incomes, the Chhattisgarh government has announced the implementation of the Krishak Unnati Yojana, starting from the Kharif 2025 season. This initiative will provide direct input assistance to farmers who cultivate alternative crops such as pulses, oilseeds, maize, and small millets instead of paddy.

Under the scheme, farmers registered on the Integrated Farmer Portal and cultivating eligible Kharif crops like tur, urad, groundnut, soybean, maize, kodo, kutki, ragi, and cotton will receive input support of ₹10,000 per acre. Additionally, farmers who had grown paddy in the previous Kharif season and sold it to cooperative societies at Minimum Support Price (MSP), but have now shifted to alternate crops, will be eligible for ₹11,000 per acre upon verification through the portal and girdawari (field records).

To reduce input cost burdens and encourage investment in quality seeds, fertilizers, pest control, mechanization, and modern agricultural practices, the scheme aims to restore agriculture as a profitable enterprise. It particularly seeks to address the challenges faced by rain-fed regions where weather uncertainties and high input costs hinder farm income.

The scheme excludes institutions like trusts, mandals, private limited firms, school development committees, and government organizations. Only individual farmers meeting eligibility through the Integrated Farmer Portal will qualify.

The government will disburse the input subsidy directly into farmers’ bank accounts through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer). Based on paddy procurement during Kharif 2025, additional input assistance of ₹731 per quintal (up to ₹15,351 per acre for common variety) and ₹711 per quintal (up to ₹14,931 per acre for Grade-A) will be provided.

In cases of overpayment, recovery mechanisms will be implemented. The implementation agencies include MARKFED, the Department of Food, Chhattisgarh State Seed and Agriculture Development Corporation, and the Directorate of Agriculture.

The Krishak Unnati Yojana represents the state’s commitment to crop diversification, self-reliance in pulses and oilseeds, and improving farmers’ socio-economic well-being through targeted investment support.
