State to Celebrate Five Years of Union Ministry of Cooperation with Week-Long Events from June 29 to July 6

Marking the completion of five years of the Ministry of Cooperation, Government of India, Chhattisgarh is preparing for a statewide celebration of Cooperative Week from June 29 to July 6, 2026, with a series of programmes aimed at promoting prosperity, self-reliance and rural development through the cooperative movement.
The week-long celebrations will feature a State-Level Cooperative Conclave, Sahkar Mela, International Cooperative Day celebrations and cooperative seminars. The flagship event, scheduled for July 3 and 4 at the Krishi Mandapam Auditorium, Indira Gandhi Agricultural University, Labhandi, Raipur, will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, while Cooperation Minister Kedar Kashyap will preside over the programme.
Cooperation Minister Reviews Preparations
Preparations for the statewide campaign were reviewed by Cooperation Minister Kedar Kashyap during a departmental meeting held on June 23. He also interacted with authorized officials of Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) and divisional officers through video conferencing, directing them to ensure active participation from all cooperative institutions and expand the reach of the cooperative movement across the state.

The minister called upon all cooperative organizations and committees to work collectively to make Cooperative Week a people-centric initiative with widespread public participation.
Activities Planned Across 2,573 PACS
During Cooperative Week, all 2,573 Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS), along with dairy, fisheries, handloom and other cooperative societies, will organize a wide range of public outreach programmes across Chhattisgarh.
The activities will include cooperative flag hoisting ceremonies, membership drives, distribution of Micro ATMs, Kisan Credit Cards (KCC) and RuPay KCC cards, cooperative runs, plantation campaigns, soil testing, farmers’ seminars and discussions highlighting the role of Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) and PACS in strengthening rural economies.
Foundation Stones for Nine PACS Warehouses
As part of the concluding ceremony on July 6, the Union Minister of Home Affairs and Cooperation will virtually lay the foundation stones for warehouse construction at nine PACS societies under the Government of India’s decentralized grain storage initiative, regarded as the world’s largest decentralized food storage programme in the cooperative sector.
State-Level Cooperative Conclave and Sahkar Mela in Raipur
The State-Level Cooperative Conclave, Sahkar Mela, International Cooperative Day celebrations and Cooperative Seminar will be held on July 3 and 4 at the Krishi Mandapam Auditorium in Raipur.

Besides Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Cooperation Minister Kedar Kashyap, the event will witness participation from representatives of PACS, dairy, fisheries, minor forest produce, handloom and other cooperative societies.
Leading national organizations, including NABARD, NCDC, NCCF, NAFED, CSC, IFFCO, KRIBHCO, the State Cooperative Union and several other cooperative institutions, are also expected to participate.
Showcasing Successful Cooperative Models
The Sahkar Mela will showcase achievements, innovations and successful models from the cooperative sector. Special activities will be organized to connect farmers, women’s self-help groups, dairy producers, fish farmers, weavers and rural entrepreneurs with cooperative schemes and development opportunities.
Broad Participation Planned
Officials held detailed discussions on the event’s framework, participation strategy and execution plan during the preparatory meeting. Participants collectively resolved to further strengthen the cooperative movement and ensure the successful organization of Cooperative Week with extensive public involvement.
The review meeting was attended by Apex Bank Authorized Officer Kedar Nath Gupta, Chhattisgarh State Cooperative Marketing Federation (Markfed) Chairman Shashikant Dwivedi, District Cooperative Central Bank chairpersons from Durg, Rajnandgaon, Raipur, Bilaspur, Jagdalpur and Ambikapur, along with representatives of Apex Bank, Markfed, district cooperative banks and several other cooperative institutions.
