Over 65,000 Consumers in Rajnandgaon Region Receive Relief Worth ₹19.46 Crore; Eligible BPL, Domestic and Agricultural Consumers Urged to Settle Old Dues

The Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company Limited has extended the Chief Minister’s Electricity Bill Payment Settlement Scheme-2026 until December 31, 2026, providing additional time for eligible consumers to settle their outstanding electricity bills.
The scheme has benefited more than 65,000 consumers across four districts under the Rajnandgaon region. So far, eligible consumers have received total relief of ₹19.46 crore through concessions on outstanding principal dues and surcharges.
The initiative aims to provide financial relief to economically weaker households and farmers struggling with old electricity bill arrears.
Scheme Implemented Across Four Districts
The scheme is being implemented across Rajnandgaon, Kabirdham, Khairagarh-Chhuikhadan-Gandai, and Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki districts.
Eligible consumers in the Below Poverty Line (BPL), domestic and agricultural categories can receive concessions on the settlement of old dues, subject to the provisions of the scheme.
According to the electricity distribution company, 65,062 consumers have benefited so far. These include 31,392 inactive consumers and 33,669 eligible active consumers.
The beneficiaries have collectively deposited approximately ₹5.89 crore towards their outstanding electricity bills, contributing to the company’s revenue collection.
Consumer Participation Across Seven Electricity Divisions
Consumers across seven electricity divisions in the Rajnandgaon region have participated in the scheme.
The division-wise beneficiary figures are as follows:
- Kawardha Division: 24,415 consumers
- Pandariya Division: 21,234 consumers
- Rajnandgaon Division: 6,023 consumers
- Dongargarh Division: 5,351 consumers
- Khairagarh Division: 3,670 consumers
- Mohla Division: 3,076 consumers
- Dongargaon Division: 1,293 consumers
The figures reflect participation across the region, with Kawardha and Pandariya accounting for the largest numbers of beneficiaries.
Special Awareness Campaign Across 66 Distribution Centres
Chief Engineer of the Rajnandgaon region Harsh Kumar Meshram said special campaigns are being conducted across 66 electricity distribution centres and three zones to ensure that every eligible consumer is informed about the scheme.

Departmental officers and employees are reaching out to consumers in both rural and urban areas to explain eligibility conditions, available concessions and the procedure for settling outstanding dues.
Consumers can approach their nearest electricity distribution centre or zonal office to obtain information and complete the settlement process.
Eligible Consumers Urged to Apply Before December 31
Chief Engineer Meshram appealed to eligible BPL, domestic and agricultural consumers with outstanding electricity bills dating before March 31, 2023, not to delay taking advantage of the scheme.
Such consumers can contact their nearest electricity distribution centre or zonal office and complete the necessary formalities by December 31, 2026.
The scheme is intended to ease the financial burden of old electricity dues while encouraging consumers to regularise their accounts and maintain smooth electricity services.
