32nd Instalment of ₹632.40 Crore Transferred to Over 67.38 Lakh Women; Durg District Gets Development Projects Worth ₹218.48 Crore

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai released the 32nd instalment of the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, transferring more than ₹632.40 crore directly into the bank accounts of 67,38,217 eligible women across the state. With this instalment, the total financial assistance provided under the scheme has crossed ₹20,708 crore.
The instalment was released during a programme in Durg district, where the Chief Minister also announced development works worth ₹218.48 crore, covering roads, irrigation, education, healthcare, skill development and power infrastructure.
Addressing the gathering, Sai said that respecting women and strengthening their economic independence were among the government’s key priorities. He emphasised that when women become financially empowered, the benefits extend to their families, particularly in areas such as children’s education, nutrition, healthcare and household decision-making.
More Than ₹20,708 Crore Disbursed Under the Scheme
The Mahtari Vandan Yojana has been operational in Chhattisgarh since March 1, 2024. Under the scheme, eligible women receive financial assistance of ₹1,000 per month directly into their bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

Before the latest instalment, the government had disbursed ₹20,075.76 crore through 31 instalments up to September 2026.
With the release of the 32nd instalment, ₹632,40,04,250 was transferred to the accounts of 67,38,217 eligible women. The cumulative assistance under the scheme has now exceeded ₹20,708 crore.
Sai said the monthly assistance provides women with a dependable source of financial support. According to him, beneficiaries use the money for children’s education, nutrition, healthcare, personal needs, savings and livelihood-related activities.
He added that the scheme was not merely about transferring money into bank accounts, but also about strengthening women’s self-respect, confidence and ability to make independent decisions.
Prime Minister Modi’s Vision of Women’s Empowerment
The Chief Minister said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had given a new direction to women’s empowerment by placing women at the centre of the country’s development.
He stated that the Chhattisgarh government was working along similar lines to bring lasting and positive changes to women’s lives through initiatives focused on their dignity, security, health and financial independence.
Sai emphasised that empowering women economically also strengthens their participation in family and social decision-making. He described women’s contribution as vital to the state’s progress towards the goal of a developed Chhattisgarh.
Over 3.89 Lakh Women in Durg Receive ₹37.19 Crore
Women in Durg district also benefited from the 32nd instalment. A total of 3,89,507 eligible women in the district received ₹37,19,10,250 through direct bank transfers.
The Chief Minister said the regular financial assistance was helping women meet household and personal needs while strengthening their role in family financial decisions.
He reiterated that the government’s objective was to ensure that women could pursue their aspirations with confidence and have access to greater opportunities and financial independence.
Durg Receives Development Projects Worth ₹218.48 Crore
Alongside the financial assistance to women, Sai announced development works worth a total of ₹218,48,29,000 for Durg district.
He inaugurated the completed upgradation work at ITI Durg, undertaken at a cost of ₹1,22,56,000. He also laid the foundation stones for 23 construction and development projects costing ₹217,25,73,000.

The projects cover road connectivity, irrigation, technical and vocational education, medical and nursing education, and electricity infrastructure.
Road Infrastructure to Improve Connectivity
Several road projects were announced to improve connectivity between rural and urban areas and facilitate access to educational institutions, healthcare facilities, markets and employment centres.
- In Durg Rural, a nearly five-kilometre stretch from Pulgaon Bridge on the main road to the Anjora-Rasmada approach on State Highway 22 will be widened to four lanes at a cost of ₹30.20 crore.
- In Ahiwara, widening and strengthening of the Kumhari-Ahiwara-Patharia road on State Highway 21 will cost ₹24.06 crore.
- A 3.60-kilometre road from Jevra Sirsa to Bhatgaon will be constructed at a cost of ₹4.28 crore.
- In Patan, a 15.50-kilometre stretch of the Bhilai-Sirsa-Aundhi-Auri-Motipur road will be widened and strengthened for ₹15.03 crore.
- Strengthening 15 kilometres of the Bhilai-Tarra main district road will cost ₹8.33 crore, while construction of a 2.20-kilometre road from Pauha to Khapri will cost ₹3.97 crore.
- In the Ahiwara and Vaishali Nagar areas, a 2.50-kilometre stretch from Chandu Lal Chandrakar Government Medical College towards the Junwani-Kohka-Kurud main road will be widened at a cost of ₹7.06 crore.
Investment in Skill Development and Technical Education
The Chief Minister inaugurated the upgradation of ITI Durg, funded through the SIDBI Cluster Development Fund, at a cost of ₹1.22 crore.
At Government Polytechnic Durg, infrastructure improvements worth ₹8.86 crore will include renovation of the office block, construction of a cement-concrete road, accessible toilet facilities for persons with disabilities and expansion of the civil engineering wing.
A livelihood college building will also be constructed in Durg Rural at a cost of ₹4.11 crore. These initiatives are intended to improve access to technical education, practical training and employment-oriented skills for young people.
Irrigation and Water Management Projects
Several projects under the Water Resources Department will focus on improving irrigation facilities, rehabilitating water bodies and strengthening canal infrastructure.
The major projects include:
- Surpa diversion scheme: Renovation and remodelling and lining of the canal system in Patan at ₹2.23 crore.
- Mohandi reservoir: Renovation and canal lining in Ahiwara at ₹4.96 crore.
- Kapsada reservoir: Renovation work worth ₹4.57 crore.
- Nandauri reservoir: Renovation work worth ₹4.77 crore.
- Tirga and Ganiyari reservoirs: Renovation at ₹4.71 crore each in Durg Rural.
- Risali-Umrapoti reservoir: Renovation and canal lining at ₹4.97 crore.
- Kotni minor channel: Construction at ₹4.93 crore to facilitate the supply of water to ponds within the Durg Municipal Corporation area.
- Shivnath Division office, Durg: Renovation and new construction work worth ₹4.96 crore.
These works are aimed at improving water management and strengthening irrigation infrastructure to support agricultural activities.
Healthcare and Nursing Education Infrastructure

The government also initiated projects to expand facilities for medical and nursing students.
A hostel for students of the Government Medical College in Durg city will be constructed at a cost of ₹16.16 crore.
Additionally, a Government General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) Training Centre will be established at the District Hospital, Durg, at a cost of ₹11.96 crore.
The projects are intended to improve facilities for students pursuing medical and nursing education and support the development of trained personnel for the healthcare sector.
Power Infrastructure to Be Strengthened in Patan
Three projects were announced to strengthen electricity transmission infrastructure in Patan.
These include the construction of a 132/33 kV substation at Jamgaon (R) at a cost of ₹25.83 crore, a 132 kV ultra-high-voltage transmission line between Patan and Jamgaon (R) costing ₹14 crore, and two additional 132 kV bays at the 220/132 kV Patan substation at a cost of ₹2.50 crore.
The projects are intended to increase transmission capacity and support more reliable electricity supply in the area.
Women’s Empowerment and Infrastructure Development Go Together
Sai said the state’s development approach combines public welfare with investment in essential infrastructure. While the Mahtari Vandan Yojana provides regular financial assistance to women, projects in roads, irrigation, education, healthcare, skills and electricity are intended to improve public facilities and expand opportunities.
He reiterated that empowered women, stronger families, skilled youth, supported farmers and modern infrastructure would contribute to the vision of a developed Chhattisgarh.
The Chief Minister said the government’s broader commitment was to extend the benefits of development to people across the state, with women’s economic independence remaining an important part of that effort.
