CEO District Panchayat Reviews Rural Housing Progress under PMAY-G

Deadline Set for Completion of 15,695 Houses by October 20 in Rajnandgaon District

Chief Executive Officer of District Panchayat, Ms. Suruchi Singh, conducted a review meeting of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Gramin (PMAY-G) at the District Panchayat hall today.

During the meeting, Ms. Singh directed all Janpad Panchayats to ensure that 15,695 beneficiaries who have already received the second installment under the 2024–25 financial year must complete their houses by October 20. She informed that out of 34,784 houses sanctioned for the current year, 16,032 have been completed so far.

Providing a progress update since the inception of the scheme, the CEO highlighted that from 2016–17 to 2022–23, a total of 27,442 houses were sanctioned in the district, of which 27,108 have already been completed. Instructions were given to complete the remaining 334 houses at the earliest.

The CEO also stressed timely monitoring, directing officials to issue muster rolls to beneficiaries based on construction progress. Gram Panchayat nodal officers with poor performance were asked to explain delays through show-cause notices. Furthermore, she instructed that underperforming Awas Mitras be replaced with candidates from the waiting list to expedite the housing completion process.

Ms. Singh set an additional milestone, directing all under-construction houses to show substantial progress by October 7.

The review meeting was attended by all Janpad Panchayat CEOs, MNREGA programme officers, block coordinators, technical assistants of PMAY-G, Awas Mitras, and nodal officers.
