Balodabazar–Bhatapara district has added another milestone to its development record by securing the first position in Chhattisgarh for the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin) during the financial year 2025–26.
The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin) is a flagship initiative of the Government of India aimed at providing permanent housing to homeless rural families and those living in kutcha houses. Under the scheme, eligible beneficiaries receive financial assistance to construct pucca houses equipped with basic amenities.
Guided by the District Collector and led by the Chief Executive Officer of the District Panchayat, Balodabazar–Bhatapara has demonstrated exceptional administrative efficiency. The district has not only accelerated the approval process but also ensured rapid commencement of construction on the ground.

During 2025–26, a total of 26,843 houses were sanctioned in the district. Of these, 24,313 beneficiaries have already received the first installment, while construction has begun on 20,480 houses. Notably, 15,120 houses have reached the plinth level— the highest figure achieved by any district in Chhattisgarh.
Officials confirmed that 26,439 houses have completed the FTO (Fund Transfer Order) process, enabling timely release of funds. So far, 139 houses have been fully completed, reflecting both administrative preparedness and strong participation from rural communities.
Under the PM Janman scheme as well, the district has shown commendable performance, with 25 eligible beneficiaries receiving housing support and achieving 100 percent completion of their allotted houses.

Rainwater Harvesting Strengthens Sustainability Drive
Balodabazar–Bhatapara has also made remarkable progress in water conservation. The district recently received the second national award for water harvesting, with PMAY-G beneficiaries playing a key role in this achievement. As part of the housing program, 15,260 rainwater harvesting structures have been constructed in completed houses, significantly contributing to groundwater recharge and sustainable water management.
This comprehensive progress under PMAY-G is transforming the lives of thousands of rural families by turning their dream of owning a permanent home into reality. Beyond housing, the initiative is also generating local employment and accelerating overall rural development in the region.
