For the first time, Baba Ramdev Jayanti was celebrated with great श्रद्धा and enthusiasm in Rajnandgaon, marking a significant spiritual moment for devotees of Baba Ramdev. The आयोजन took place at the historic Baba Ramdev Temple, which has long been a केंद्र of faith for followers across the region.
The temple, established in 1962 by saintly figure Bilakidas Tanwar, is considered one of the earliest and most prominent Baba Ramdev temples in the area. Over the years, it has attracted devotees not only from Chhattisgarh but also from neighbouring regions of Maharashtra and Rajasthan, including Gondia and Amgaon.
On the occasion, special rituals, lamp-lighting ceremonies, and religious observances were conducted by the temple’s priest family, including Sharad Tanwar, Komal Tanwar, and Karan Tanwar. The temple premises resonated with bhajans and devotional chants throughout the day, creating a deeply spiritual atmosphere.
A unique highlight of the celebration was the opportunity for the first ceremonial पूजा, which was granted to a Bengali-origin devotee family residing in Nandai. The devotee, Taramandal, who works as a सोनार (goldsmith), arrived at the temple with his family in a deeply emotional state and was blessed with the privilege of performing the initial पूजा and श्रृंगार.
According to local beliefs, only those destined by divine will receive the अवसर to perform such special rituals. The inclusion of a humble family in this role reinforced the message of equality and inclusiveness in Baba Ramdev’s दरबार, where no distinction is made between rich and poor.

The आयोजन was inspired by traditions followed at the revered Ramdevra Temple, the principal pilgrimage site associated with Baba Ramdev. There, the festival is observed annually on Chaitra Sudi Panchami, based on the genealogical records maintained by the Tanwar lineage.
While the festival at Ramdevra is not always marked by large public celebrations, it holds deep spiritual significance for devotees, who observe the day with rituals and family traditions. Drawing inspiration from this heritage, the priestly Tanwar family in Rajnandgaon initiated the local celebration this year.
The successful आयोजन reflects the growing faith and devotion towards Baba Ramdev in the region and highlights a spiritual connection between Rajnandgaon and the traditional seat of worship in Rajasthan.
