Acting on the directions of Collector Mr. Jitendra Yadav, the district administration has started advance fertiliser lifting for farmers in preparation for the Kharif season 2026. The initiative, led by the Agriculture Department, aims to ensure uninterrupted fertiliser supply, prevent shortages during peak sowing periods, and streamline the distribution system across the district.

From February 1 to May 31, 2026, farmers—particularly small, marginal, and women farmers—are being encouraged to lift fertilisers in advance through their respective cooperative societies. The move is expected to help farmers secure essential inputs well before the onset of the monsoon and avoid last-minute supply constraints.

Deputy Director of Agriculture Mr. Tikam Singh Thakur informed that a target of 33,500 metric tonnes of chemical fertilisers has been set for the district for Kharif 2026. The fertiliser-wise targets include 14,000 metric tonnes of urea, 9,000 metric tonnes of DAP, 6,000 metric tonnes of NPK, 1,700 metric tonnes of MOP, and 2,800 metric tonnes of SSP.

To meet these targets, close coordination has been established between the District Marketing Officer and the District Cooperative Central Bank, Rajnandgaon, ensuring adequate storage at cooperative societies and smooth supply to farmers. Advance stocking of fertilisers has already begun at all cooperative societies from February 1.

Under Rajnandgaon block, fertilisers have been stocked in Bhanpuri, Padumtara, and Patewa societies. In Dongargarh block, advance storage has been completed at Lalbahadur Nagar, Bagrekasa, Paniajob, and Thakurtola societies. Similarly, in Chhuria block, fertiliser stocking has been completed at Gahirabhedi, Sadak Chirchari, Salhetola, and Bamhani Charbhatha societies. Other societies are also being issued fertiliser-wise release orders (ROs) to complete advance stocking.

In a significant relief measure for farmers, no interest will be charged by cooperative societies on chemical fertilisers lifted in advance between February 1 and May 31, 2026. This decision will provide direct financial benefits to farmers and allow them to procure fertilisers without any additional economic burden.

Deputy Director of Agriculture Mr. Tikam Singh Thakur has appealed to farmers to lift the required fertilisers for Kharif 2026 in advance from their nearest cooperative societies within the stipulated period to ensure smooth and timely agricultural operations.
