A meeting of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) was held today at the Collectorate conference hall under the chairmanship of Member of Parliament Santosh Pandey, where extensive discussions were held on developmental priorities, implementation of government schemes, and coordination among departments.

The meeting was attended by Khujji MLA Bholaram Sahu, Dongargarh MLA Harshita Baghel, District Panchayat President Kiran Vaishnav, Collector Jitendra Yadav, Superintendent of Police Ankita Sharma, Divisional Forest Officer Ayush Jain, and District Panchayat CEO Suruchi Singh along with other public representatives and senior officials.

Review of Development Works and Government Schemes

Chairing the meeting, MP Santosh Pandey conducted a detailed review of Central and State government schemes, district-level innovations, and departmental progress. He directed officials to ensure timely action on suggestions and issues raised during the meeting.

He emphasized that even small but essential works such as drinking water management, improvement of school infrastructure, and other public welfare issues must be prioritized.

Pandey stated that development cannot rely solely on administrative efforts. Active participation of society, along with administration and elected representatives, plays a crucial role in ensuring successful implementation of schemes. Public awareness and community involvement, he noted, are key to achieving effective outcomes.

Collector Highlights Census and Administrative Actions

Collector Jitendra Yadav informed the committee that positive outcomes have emerged in water conservation and crop diversification due to effective coordination between administration and public representatives. He assured continued cooperation to ensure speedy disposal of pending works.

Providing information about Census 2027, the Collector said that the first phase of house listing will begin from May 1. He urged public representatives and officials to complete self-enumeration through the online portal and motivate citizens to participate actively.

He also ordered an immediate inquiry into complaints regarding collection of money by CSC centres for free e-KYC services under the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, directing that agencies found guilty be blacklisted. The Collector added that strict action has already been taken against teachers remaining absent for long durations over the past four months.

Additionally, instructions were issued to raise handpump casing pipes in rural areas to prevent drinking water shortages.

Focus on Child Safety and Road Safety Measures

Superintendent of Police Ankita Sharma expressed concern over incidents involving minor girls leaving home without informing families. She stressed the need for coordinated awareness campaigns involving the School Education Department and Women & Child Development Department to prevent such cases through early awareness.

She also directed installation of adequate lighting and signboards at accident-prone locations to improve road safety.

Forest Collection Season and Livelihood Support

Divisional Forest Officer Ayush Jain informed the meeting that forest produce collection activities will commence between May 1 and May 5. He noted that increased tendu leaf procurement rates this year are expected to benefit collectors and enhance rural incomes.

Rural Housing and Skill Development Progress

District Panchayat CEO Suruchi Singh reported that more than 28,000 houses have been completed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin) over the past two years. She also highlighted that the Rural Self-Employment Training Institute provides free skill training to youth from BPL families, enabling them to pursue self-employment opportunities.

Officials from various departments presented updates on ongoing schemes, programmes, and innovations during the meeting. District Panchayat member Devkumari Sahu, MLA representative Santosh Agrawal, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Atul Vishwakarma, and several district-level officers were also present.
