A case of financial irregularity under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) has come to light in Gram Panchayat Jakke of Manpur development block. It was found that Panchayat Secretary Sevant Komre exerted pressure on the employment assistant to falsely mark incomplete houses as completed and geo-tag them, leading to the unauthorized transfer of funds into beneficiaries’ accounts.
Following the complaint, Chief Executive Officer of District Panchayat, Ms. Bharti Chandrakar, acted promptly and initiated disciplinary action after investigation. The Panchayat Secretary was immediately transferred from Jakke to another panchayat. Additionally, her annual increment has been withheld and recovery orders have been issued.
The employment assistant’s honorarium has been reduced, and a warning notice has been issued to the MGNREGA technical assistant for negligence.
The District CEO has also directed all Chief Executive Officers of Janpad Panchayats to conduct regular inspections and take strict action on their own in cases of negligence or misuse under the PM Awas Yojana.
