Farmers in Chhattisgarh are witnessing significant economic progress by adopting modern agricultural machinery in their farming practices. With active support from the Chhattisgarh State Seed and Agricultural Development Corporation, farmers are accessing advanced farm equipment at subsidised rates, enabling them to move towards sustainable and profitable agriculture in line with the Viksit Bharat vision.

The state government, through various agricultural schemes, is encouraging farmers to move beyond traditional farming methods. As a result, the use of modern machinery has increased productivity, reduced dependency on manual labour and enhanced overall farm efficiency.

Subsidised Modern Farm Equipment for Farmers

Officials from the Agriculture Department stated that the state government is implementing multiple schemes to support farmers, ranging from the supply of improved seeds to access to advanced farming technology. Under this initiative, the Seed and Agricultural Development Corporation is providing a wide range of modern and advanced agricultural implements on government subsidy.

Farmers can select machinery suitable for different stages of cultivation, including ploughing, sowing, transplanting and harvesting. The corporation is offering power-operated equipment such as rotavators, self-propelled reapers, paddy transplanters, laser land levellers, power weeders, mulchers, threshers and seed drills, among others. These tools have significantly contributed to increasing crop productivity.

Improved Quality and Reduced Costs

Farmers using modern machinery have reported substantial savings in time and labour costs. According to beneficiaries, agricultural operations are now completed more quickly and with greater precision, resulting in better crop quality. Improved yields have also helped farmers secure better prices in the market, strengthening their financial condition.

882 Farmers Benefited So Far

The primary objective of the Seed and Agricultural Development Corporation is to connect farmers with modern technology and make them self-reliant. Under the ongoing scheme, agricultural implements are being provided based on farmers’ needs, promoting sustainable agricultural development across the state.

During the financial year 2025–26, a total of 882 farmers have so far benefited from subsidised agricultural machinery under this initiative.

Farmers Share Their Experiences

Efficient Harvesting with Self-Propelled Reaper
Narayan Dallu Patel, a farmer from Bilaspur district, received a self-propelled reaper under subsidy. He said that earlier, harvesting one acre of crop required 10–12 labourers and an entire day. With the reaper, the same work is now completed within two to three hours, reducing harvesting costs by nearly 50–60 per cent and ensuring timely operations.

Faster Field Preparation with Rotavator
Hiralal Sahu, a farmer from Raipur district, said that the use of a rotavator has drastically reduced the time required for field preparation. What earlier took three to four days is now completed within a few hours, resulting in a 20–25 per cent increase in crop production.

Seed Drill Improves Yield and Saves Seed
Lekhuram Chhedaiya, a farmer from Khairagarh–Chhui Khadan–Gandai district, purchased a seed drill machine under subsidy. He said the machine has helped save 15–25 per cent of seed during sowing. Uniform depth and spacing have improved germination, leading to a 20–30 per cent increase in overall production.

With increasing adoption of modern farm equipment, Chhattisgarh’s farmers are steadily transforming agriculture into a more efficient, profitable and sustainable enterprise.
