Mayor Madhusudan Yadav administers anti-addiction pledge; students present impactful performances promoting a drug-free future

As the ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’ completes five years, anti-addiction pledge ceremonies were organized across the country on Tuesday. In Rajnandgaon, the Social Welfare Department and Samata Jankalyan Samiti jointly conducted a pledge ceremony at the auditorium of Dr. Baldev Prasad Mishra Government Higher Secondary School, Basantpur.
The programme began with the screening of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s message through projector, highlighting the nationwide commitment to building a drug-free society. Chief Guest Mayor Madhusudan Yadav administered the anti-addiction pledge. Addressing the gathering, he emphasized the urgent need for collective efforts to protect children, youth and citizens from the dangers of substance abuse. “We must unite to eradicate this social evil from our homes and communities and secure a healthier future for the coming generations,” he said.

Social Welfare Deputy Director Vaishali Mardwar briefed the audience about the significance and planning of the event. Speakers from the Gayatri Pariwar, including Harish Gandhi, also addressed the programme.
Students of Abhyuday Group, Digvijay College, Rajnandgaon gave a powerful theatrical performance on drug de-addiction, drawing wide appreciation from the audience. Visually impaired teacher Birendra Gandharv from Abhilasha Sanstha delivered a heartfelt self-composed song on eliminating addiction. Children from Aastha Deaf and Mute Institute presented an expressive dance centred on the theme of drug eradication.

The event was conducted by Dilip Shrivastava, Administrator of Abhilasha Sanstha. Among those present were Councillor Hemant Shekhar Yadav, Rajesh Yadav, Acting Principal Bhupesh Kumar Sahu, Samata Jankalyan Samiti President Shishupal Khobragarh, and officials from the Social Welfare Department including Tiharsingh Dhruv, Ramprasad Yadav, Mahendra Yadav, Ayesha Khan, teachers and students.
