Vice President attends Lakhpati Didi Conference in Rajnandgaon; ₹647.28 crore transferred to 69.15 lakh beneficiaries under DBT

Vice President of India Shri C.P. Radhakrishnan participated in the Lakhpati Didi Conference held at the State High School Ground in Rajnandgaon today. The event, organized under the State’s rural livelihood and women empowerment initiatives, saw the presence of Governor Shri Ramen Deka, Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai, Speaker Dr. Raman Singh, Ministers, MPs, MLAs and a large gathering of women self-help group members.

During the programme, the Vice President electronically transferred ₹646 crore 52 lakh 10 thousand to 69,07,615 women beneficiaries under the Mahtari Vandan Yojana as the 21st monthly installment.
Additionally, under the Niyad Nellanar Yojana, the first installment of ₹76 lakh 26 thousand 500 was transferred to 7,658 beneficiaries.

In total, ₹647 crore 28 lakh 36 thousand 500 was transferred to 69,15,273 beneficiaries through the DBT platform.

The Vice President also visited the National Rural Livelihood Mission (BIHAN) stalls, interacted with Lakhpati Didis, and learned about their entrepreneurial achievements and income-generation activities.

“Lakhpati Didi is Not Just Income—It is Dignity and Self-Reliance” – Vice President

Addressing the gathering, Shri Radhakrishnan greeted the audience in Chhattisgarhi saying “Jammo Bhai-Bahini Man La Jai Johar”, and congratulated the State on completing 25 years of its formation.

He said:

“The Lakhpati Didi initiative reflects the confidence, courage, and determination of women who have turned challenges into opportunities. They are not only earning but inspiring, leading, and transforming their communities.”

He praised Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai for setting a target to enable five lakh Lakhpati Didis in the state and appreciated Rajnandgaon for linking over one lakh women with SHGs under BIHAN.

He added that India is close to eliminating cataract blindness, stating that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, more than 1.3 crore eye surgeries and 19 lakh free spectacles have been provided to the elderly and rural poor.

The Vice President emphasized that Chhattisgarh is progressing rapidly, with significant development in healthcare, electricity, road infrastructure, rural livelihood, and women leadership.


Governor Shri Ramen Deka:

“This conference is a living example of the strength of our rural economy and women’s empowerment. Lakhpati Didis are not only improving their income, but also driving social change.”

He shared that Rajnandgaon district alone has nearly 40,000 Lakhpati Didis, including 208 earning over ₹5 lakh annually and 26 earning above ₹10 lakh per year.


Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai:

“Our aim is to make every mother and sister of Chhattisgarh a Lakhpati Didi.”

He highlighted State achievements including:

  • Approval of 18 lakh PM Awas
  • Minimum support price of ₹3100 per quintal paddy
  • Bonus payment cleared
  • Tendu leaf compensation increased to ₹5500 per bag
  • Major development works under Niyad Nellanar in Bastar region

He said the government aims to create 7,82,000 Lakhpati Didis, of which 4,93,000 have already emerged, and work continues to reach 14,77,000 targeted Lakhpati Didis.

“Lakhpati Didi is a powerful symbol of Nari Shakti and rural prosperity. Rajnandgaon is leading in women-led development, PM Awas implementation, maternal and child health improvement, nutrition reforms, and water conservation efforts.”
