2018-batch IPS officer emphasizes women’s and senior citizens’ security, aims to strengthen police-public trust

IPS officer Ankita Sharma formally assumed charge as the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Rajnandgaon district today. After taking charge, she met with senior police officers and staff members, directing them to work with responsibility, sensitivity, and dedication to maintain law and order across the district.
Speaking to the media after assuming office, SP Ankita Sharma stated, “Ensuring the safety of citizens and maintaining law and order will remain my top priority. Concrete steps will be taken to enhance the security of women, children, and senior citizens.”
She further emphasized the importance of building trust and cooperation between the police and the public, noting that effective crime control and prompt justice for victims will be central to her approach.

A 2018-batch IPS officer, Sharma previously served as SP of Khairagarh, where she earned widespread appreciation for improving police-public relations and community engagement. Before her Rajnandgaon posting, she was serving as Superintendent of Police in Sakti district, where her proactive and people-centric policing style made her a respected figure.
With her reputation for discipline, field presence, and empathy-driven leadership, Ankita Sharma’s appointment has sparked optimism among residents about improved policing and community safety in Rajnandgaon.
