Krishi Vigyan Kendra Surgi Hosts Balaram Jayanti and Farmers’ Day Celebration

Farmers Encouraged Towards Traditional and Natural Farming Practices in Rajnandgaon

A special event marking Lord Balaram Jayanti and a one-day Farmers’ Day was organized at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Surgi, Rajnandgaon. The program began with the traditional worship of Lord Balaram, Chhattisgarh Mahtari, plough, pestle, and other traditional farming tools, seeking blessings for a prosperous agricultural yield.

Social worker Mr. Komal Singh Rajput motivated farmers to adopt traditional and natural farming methods for sustainable agriculture. On the occasion, an expert lecture was delivered on traditional farming practices, followed by live demonstrations on natural farming components such as Beejamrit, Jeevamrit, Ghana-Jeevamrit, and preparation of Neem-based formulations for pest control.

Through interactive activities, farmers were made aware of the benefits of natural and chemical-free farming practices. The program highlighted the importance of reviving indigenous techniques to enhance soil fertility, reduce input costs, and promote eco-friendly agriculture.

Prominent participants included Mr. Hirendra Sahu, Mr. Ishwar Chand Srivastava, Mr. Raja Makhija, Mr. Abhishek Chandrakar, along with KVK Surgi’s Senior Scientist and Head, Dr. Gunjan Jha, Mrs. Anjali Ghritlahare, Dr. Atul Dange, Dr. Nutan Ramteke, Mr. Manish Kumar Singh, Dr. Yogendra Srivas, Field Manager Mr. Ashish Gaurav Shukla, and Rural Agricultural Extension Officer Mrs. Sushila Ramteke. A large number of farmers from surrounding areas actively took part in the event.
