Rajnandgaon: The Rajasthan community in Rajnandgaon celebrated its prominent folk festival Bachh Baras with grandeur, devotion, and cultural fervor. The celebrations were held at the Baba Ramdev Temple premises, where special traditional rituals and prayers were performed.
In recent years, the temple has become a central venue for the Rajasthani community to collectively celebrate their age-old festivals, creating a homely cultural environment reminiscent of Rajasthan. On this auspicious day, devotees especially worshipped cows and calves, which symbolize prosperity and divine blessings in Rajasthani tradition.

The festivities commenced early in the morning at 6 AM and continued until noon, drawing a large number of women dressed in colorful Rajasthani attire such as ghaghra, odhni, and chunri. The atmosphere resembled a vibrant slice of Rajasthan within Rajnandgaon.
At the Radha-Krishna and Pipa Ji temples located in the complex, women and children performed rituals dedicated to cows and calves, seeking the blessings of Gomata for family welfare and prosperity. Devotional songs, folk tales, and cultural performances added charm to the occasion.
Community elder Nathiya Didi Sharma narrated traditional stories associated with Bachh Baras, making the festival lively and spiritually enriching. The celebrations also became a platform for community bonding, showcasing the unity, culture, and traditions of the Rajasthani diaspora.

Temple priests Sharad and Komal Tanwar emphasized that such festivals not only strengthen social harmony but also help revive fading traditions. They expressed joy that festivals like Amla Navami, once on the verge of extinction, are being rejuvenated at the temple premises.
“Today, the devotion of women transformed the temple courtyard into a spiritual pilgrimage site,” the priests remarked, highlighting the strong faith and cultural pride of the Rajasthani community.
The celebration of Bachh Baras once again demonstrated the community’s commitment to preserving its heritage while passing it on to future generations.
