Two-day Mid-Central Regional Level 2 Sports Meet Inaugurated at International Hockey Stadium, Rajnandgaon with Over 500 Participants from Six Districts

The two-day National Sports Festival 2025 of the Eklavya Adarsh Residential School for the Mid-Central Regional Level 2 division was inaugurated today at the International Hockey Stadium in Rajnandgaon. The event was graced by the presence of the Chairperson of the Zila Panchayat, Mrs. Kiran Vaishnav, as the chief guest.
Addressing the participants, Mrs. Vaishnav emphasized the critical role of discipline and adherence to rules in sports. She encouraged the players to set clear goals and play with dedication and integrity. “Discipline sharpens one’s personality,” she said, urging all athletes to respect the rules and maintain focus throughout the competition. Highlighting that both victory and defeat are integral parts of sports, she advised players not to be disheartened by losses but to continue striving with hard work and perseverance. She stressed that every second counts in sports and urged athletes to compete with clear objectives aiming for first place.

Mrs. Vaishnav also highlighted the importance of team responsibility in group events and personal accountability in individual competitions. Furthermore, she urged the youth to abstain from substance abuse, emphasizing that a clean lifestyle fosters success and character development. She reminded participants of the vital role education plays alongside sports, stating that education remains a lifelong asset.
The Chairperson also cautioned young riders about road safety, advising them to operate two-wheelers only after reaching the appropriate age. She wished all players success and encouraged them to bring pride to their families, regions, and the nation through their sportsmanship.
Social worker Mr. Komal Singh Rajput also addressed the gathering, leading the athletes in a pledge to compete with true sportsmanship. Assistant Commissioner of Tribal Development, Ms. Diksha Gupta, detailed the event’s structure, noting the participation of approximately 517 athletes from six districts: Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki, Balod, Dhamtari, Gariaband, Rajnandgaon, and Mahasamund.

The festival features individual events such as archery, athletics, badminton, boxing, chess, gymnastics, judo, tennis, shooting, table tennis, taekwondo, weightlifting, freestyle wrestling, and yoga. Team competitions include basketball, football, handball, kabaddi, kho-kho, and volleyball. Matches are held across multiple venues including Digvijay Stadium, International Hockey Stadium, State High School, Gayatri School, Kamla College, Bajrangpur Stadium, and Motipur Akhada.
The inauguration was attended by councilor Mrs. Amrita Sinha, elected representative Mr. Ravindra Vaishnav, Deputy Collectors Mr. Manoj Markam and Mr. Amiya Srivastava, other dignitaries, officials, and a large gathering of athletes.
