Padma Shri Dilip Tirkey Congratulates Players for Dominant Debut Performance in Chennai

The 15th Hockey India Sub-Junior National Championship 2025 kicked off on July 28 at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Hockey Stadium in Chennai. Among the 29 participating teams from across the country, Chhattisgarh made a dominant impression by defeating Goa 4–0 in the tournament’s opening match.
According to Firoz Ansari, President of the Chhattisgarh Hockey Association and Joint Secretary of Hockey India, the Chhattisgarh team played a fiercely attacking game from the start. Adarsh Raj Singh led the charge with two goals, while Gulshan Yadav and Manish Vatti each scored one, sealing a convincing victory.
Recognizing the stellar effort, Hockey India President and Olympian Padma Shri Dr. Dilip Tirkey met with the Chhattisgarh team and extended his congratulations. He praised the team’s coordination and energy and wished them success in the upcoming fixtures.
For his outstanding performance in the match, Gulshan Yadav was awarded Player of the Match.

Manish Srivastava, Secretary of the Chhattisgarh Hockey Association, shared that the team was selected after an intensive training camp held at the International Hockey Stadium in Rajnandgaon. Talented players from various districts of the state participated in the camp, and 18 top performers were chosen to represent Chhattisgarh at the national level.
