ED Action Against Chhattisgarh Congress Leader’s Son Politically Motivated, Says Mahendra Yadav

Mahendra Yadav, General Secretary of the District Congress Committee (Rural) and Zila Panchayat member, has strongly criticized the BJP-led central government for what he termed as undemocratic and vindictive misuse of central agencies. Speaking on the recent Enforcement Directorate (ED) action against Chaitanya Baghel, son of former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, Yadav said the move reflects the ruling party’s growing intolerance toward opposition voices.

“The arrest of Chaitanya Baghel is not an isolated incident. It is part of a broader conspiracy to silence dissent and dismantle the spirit of democracy,” Yadav alleged. He emphasized that the Congress party will not remain silent in the face of such political oppression. “We will neither be afraid, nor bow down, nor stop resisting,” he declared.

Yadav questioned the selective nature of ED’s actions, pointing out that while several leaders of the BJP and its allies face serious allegations of corruption, they continue to remain untouched. “If corruption is truly the concern, why are only opposition leaders targeted?” he asked.

Referring to the arrest of Chaitanya Baghel from his residence in Bhilai on his birthday, Yadav linked the move to the political stance taken by Bhupesh Baghel in the state assembly. “The former CM was vocally opposing the allocation of mining contracts to industrialist Adani and deforestation in tribal areas. The ED’s action appears to be a direct retaliation,” he claimed.

He also recalled that on Bhupesh Baghel’s birthday earlier, ED raids were conducted on his OSD and close associates, underlining what he described as a disturbing pattern of political persecution.

Yadav warned that the people of Chhattisgarh will no longer tolerate the BJP’s authoritarian attitude. “This misuse of power and central agencies will be met with strong public resistance,” he concluded.
