“Dr. Mookerjee sacrificed his ministerial position and endured imprisonment and suffering, yet never compromised on his ideological convictions,” Mishra said. “His fight to retain Bengal as part of India, in the face of attempts by then-CM Suhrawardy and the Congress-Pakistan nexus to cede it to Pakistan, was pivotal. We must stay vigilant against Congress and leftist ideologies,” he added.
