The dream of owning a home is turning into reality for many families who have lived in rental accommodations for years, thanks to the implementation of the ‘Mor Makan Mor Aas’ scheme under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) in Chhattisgarh. On May 15, 2025, a lottery was conducted at the Municipal Corporation Hall, resulting in 21 eligible beneficiaries receiving allotments of affordable homes at cost price.

The lottery event was held under the guidance of Mayor Madhusudan Yadav and Municipal Commissioner Atul Vishwakarma, in the presence of Corporation Chairperson Topendra Singh Paras Verma and other officials. Previously, 167 families had already been allotted homes under the same initiative, bringing the total number of beneficiaries to 188.

The homes were allocated from housing units located in Rewadi, Mohara, and Lakholi, including both completed and under-construction sites. The scheme particularly targets families residing as tenants within the municipal limits, offering them a chance to own a home through a transparent lottery process.

Officials announced that allottees will receive their housing allocation letters within 15 working days, and those who missed out will have another opportunity in future lotteries. Financial assistance through bank loans is also being facilitated for interested applicants.

Chairperson Paras Verma congratulated the beneficiaries and urged them not to fall prey to external influences when modifying their homes. Meanwhile, Sawan Verma, head of the Housing and Environment Department, assured that remaining eligible applicants would soon be allotted homes upon submission of required payments.
