The Excise Department of Rajnandgaon has intensified its crackdown on the illicit liquor trade with significant seizures and arrests in separate raids conducted across the district. The operations were carried out on the orders of District Collector and Magistrate Dr. Sarveshwar Narendra Bhure as part of an ongoing campaign to root out illegal alcohol networks.

In a targeted operation led by Excise Sub-Inspector Anil Singh along with Chief Constables Lal Singh Rajput and Bhojraj Uike, officials seized 3.60 bulk litres of foreign liquor labeled ‘Goa’—manufactured in Madhya Pradesh—from the possession of a local individual named Devanand Verma in the Palandur-Mohara region of Dongargarh. The accused was arrested under relevant sections of the Excise Act and later released on bail.

In a parallel raid, a separate excise team led by Sub-Inspector Mrs. Tuleshwari Devangan and assisted by Constables Milap Mandavi, Kishori Korram, and Deepak Sinha, seized 10 bulk litres of country-made liquor brewed using traditional methods, along with 50 kilograms of mahua lahan (fermentation material) near the Pathra Nawagaon stream in rural Rajnandgaon. The brewing equipment and ingredients were confiscated as per the provisions of the Excise Act.

To prevent the sale of illegal liquor, regular inspections are being conducted at liquor shops, roadside eateries, and hotels across the district. Assistant Excise Commissioner Yadunandan Rathore has issued strict directives to all zone officers to maintain vigilant surveillance and ensure zero tolerance against illegal alcohol activities.

These actions are part of the administration’s broader commitment to public safety, curbing substance abuse, and maintaining law and order in rural and urban areas alike.
