Chhattisgarh Tourism Board organised a major tourism roadshow at Hotel Hyatt Regency in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, in collaboration with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), to promote the state’s natural beauty, cultural heritage, historical sites, religious destinations and tribal traditions among tourists and tourism businesses across the country.
The event brought together 30 tourism stakeholders from Chhattisgarh and 148 tour and travel operators from Gujarat. It aimed to strengthen business relationships between the tourism sectors of the two states and explore new opportunities for tourism promotion, investment and cultural exchange.

The programme was attended by Chhattisgarh Tourism Board Chairman Neelu Sharma, Secretary of the Tourism and Culture Department Dr. S. Bharathidasan, Managing Director of Chhattisgarh Tourism Board Saumil Ranjan Choubey, and Gujarat Tourism Corporation representative Ankita Parmar. Deputy General Managers of the Chhattisgarh Tourism Board, Pushpendra Sharma and Poonam Sharma, along with several tourism industry representatives, were also present.
Champaran to Become a Key Link in Religious Tourism
A major highlight of the roadshow was the strategy to promote Champaran, the birthplace of Mahaprabhu Vallabhacharya, as an important religious tourism destination connecting Gujarat and Chhattisgarh.
Champaran holds special religious and spiritual significance for devotees from Gujarat, many of whom visit the place every year. The Tourism Board aims to build on this existing religious and cultural connection to encourage visitors to explore other destinations across Chhattisgarh.
During a detailed presentation, Tourism Board Managing Director Saumil Ranjan Choubey explained how pilgrims visiting Champaran could be encouraged to include other religious, historical, natural and cultural attractions in their travel itineraries.
These destinations include the archaeological and historical heritage of Sirpur, the religious significance of Rajim, Bastar’s distinctive tribal culture and the spectacular Chitrakote Waterfall, along with other prominent tourist destinations.
The initiative seeks to expand visitors’ journeys beyond a single religious destination. Longer stays could increase the use of local tourism services and create opportunities for hotels, transport operators, handicraft businesses and other tourism-related enterprises.
Business Meetings Focus on Tour Packages and Partnerships
Business-to-business meetings between tourism stakeholders from Chhattisgarh and Gujarat witnessed active participation. Representatives discussed opportunities for cooperation, joint tourism packages, new travel routes, increased tourist movement and expansion of tourism services.
Gujarat-based tour operators were introduced to Chhattisgarh’s major tourist destinations, religious tourism opportunities, natural attractions, cultural diversity and available visitor facilities.

Discussions also focused on developing specialised travel packages suited to the interests and requirements of tourists from Gujarat. The meetings provided tourism service providers from Chhattisgarh with an opportunity to connect directly with Gujarat’s tourism market and explore long-term business partnerships.
Investor Interaction Highlights Tourism Opportunities
A special investor meeting was also organised as part of the roadshow to explore investment opportunities in Chhattisgarh’s tourism sector.
Potential investors from Gujarat were informed about the state’s tourism assets and opportunities for developing tourism infrastructure and increasing private-sector participation.
The discussions covered the potential for expanding tourism-based businesses and developing facilities around the state’s natural, religious, historical and cultural destinations. Such investments are expected to create employment opportunities and strengthen the local economy.
Chhattisgarh’s Folk Culture Captivates Guests
Cultural performances based on Chhattisgarh’s rich folk traditions added a special attraction to the roadshow. The presentations offered guests and tourism industry representatives a glimpse of the state’s distinctive folk arts, cultural practices and traditions.
The performances were appreciated by the guests, helping showcase Chhattisgarh not only as a destination with diverse tourism attractions but also as a state with a vibrant cultural identity.
Media Interaction Promotes Tourism Initiatives
A special interaction with media representatives was also organised during the event. Information was shared about major tourist destinations in Chhattisgarh, new initiatives in the tourism sector, opportunities in religious tourism and strategies to attract more visitors from Gujarat.

Media representatives showed interest in the state’s tourism potential and the efforts being made to strengthen tourism links between the two states. The interaction also provided an opportunity to expand awareness of Chhattisgarh’s destinations in Gujarat.
Roadshow Opens a New Chapter in Gujarat-Chhattisgarh Tourism Partnership
The Ahmedabad roadshow marks an important initiative to strengthen Chhattisgarh’s presence in the national tourism market. The participation of tourism businesses, tour operators and potential investors from Gujarat has opened avenues for greater cooperation between the two states.
The strategy of using Champaran’s religious significance as a starting point to introduce visitors to other destinations across Chhattisgarh could play an important role in expanding tourism in the coming years.
Increased tourist arrivals are expected to benefit the state’s tourism businesses, local employment, hotel industry, transport services and traditional handicraft sector.
Through this initiative, the Chhattisgarh Tourism Board aims to connect the state’s natural, religious and cultural heritage with major tourism markets across India and establish Chhattisgarh as an attractive and diverse travel destination.
