“The Lamp May Be Small, But the Service Commitment Behind It Is Great,” Says BJP Councillor Ravi Sinha

Reacting to remarks made by Leader of Opposition Santosh Pille regarding the service activities and the “Ashirwad Ke Diye” programme organised on the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday, BJP councillor and Chairman of the Janbhagidari Committee of Government Shivnath Science College, Ravi Sinha, said that public service activities should not be viewed through a political lens and that their underlying intent and purpose should be understood.
Ravi Sinha said that lighting lamps was not merely a formal political programme. A lamp, he said, symbolises light, positivity, hope and a commitment to service.
He said that various service activities were organised across the country on the Prime Minister’s birthday, with the objective of strengthening the spirit of service, cleanliness, environmental protection, assistance to those in need and positive social participation.
He said that if the Opposition had objections to any programme, it could express its views democratically, but viewing every social and service activity through a political lens was not appropriate.
“Politics has its place and public service has its own place,” he said, adding that BJP workers remain active not only in organisational activities but also in service initiatives among society and the public.
“People Want Work on the Ground, Not Speeches”
Ravi Sinha said that people do not want only statements and allegations and counter-allegations, but also work on roads, drainage cleaning, better sanitation, healthcare facilities, educational opportunities and improvements in civic amenities.
“I am myself the councillor of Ward No. 39, and it is my responsibility to remain among the people of the ward and raise their concerns,” he said.
He said he had consistently raised issues related to roads, drains, sanitation, culverts, healthcare, education, street lights and other civic facilities before the municipal corporation.
According to Sinha, the people of the ward are direct witnesses to his work and active engagement.
He said the responsibility of an elected representative was not limited to speaking in the House, but also involved reaching out to people, understanding their problems, communicating them to the concerned officials and making continuous efforts towards their resolution.
Continued Efforts in the Education Sector
Referring to his role as Chairman of the Janbhagidari Committee of Government Shivnath Science College, Ravi Sinha said continuous efforts were also being made to address students’ requirements and improve the academic environment at the college.
He said arranging useful books for students preparing for competitive examinations, promoting environmental protection and plantation, addressing the requirements of the college and giving priority to issues concerning students were among the responsibilities of the Janbhagidari Committee.
He said every positive effort in the field of education was a step towards strengthening the future generation.
“Opposition Should Offer Constructive Suggestions Instead of Allegations”
Addressing Leader of Opposition Santosh Pille, Ravi Sinha said that if the Opposition was genuinely concerned about people’s basic problems, it should move beyond allegations and counter-allegations and present concrete and constructive suggestions concerning roads, sanitation, healthcare, education, drainage and civic amenities.

“The Opposition has its own role, and we respect that. But in a democracy, the meaningful role of the Opposition is not limited to raising questions; providing constructive suggestions for solutions is also its responsibility,” he said.
Sinha said BJP workers would continue to conduct service programmes while also working seriously towards resolving people’s basic problems.
“Do Not Question the Flame, Look at the Commitment Behind It”
Ravi Sinha said that instead of questioning the light of a lamp, one should look at the sentiment and purpose behind lighting it.
He said that if a programme conveys a message of service, cleanliness, positivity and social participation, it should be welcomed.
“People see everything. They decide from their own experience who only makes statements and who goes among the people and works,” he said.
He added that his response would not be through allegations but through his work.
Ravi Sinha said that for the BJP, service was not limited to a programme held on a particular day but was a continuous responsibility of elected representatives and party workers.
He said that from ward-level problems to the future of students, wherever an issue concerning public interest arises, the voice of the people would continue to be raised with full commitment.
“Politics has its place, but public service is a much greater responsibility. Lighting the lamp is our commitment and resolving people’s problems is our priority. The lamps of service will continue to be lit, and our voice on issues concerning development and public interest will continue to be raised,” Sinha said.
