Collector Jitendra Yadav chaired a meeting of the District Road Safety Committee at the Collectorate on Tuesday to review measures for preventing road accidents and ensuring timely assistance to accident victims.
The Collector expressed concern over a recent accident on the National Highway and directed officials of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to ensure continuous patrolling and prompt removal of cattle found on the highway.
NHAI Asked to Strengthen Highway Safety
Jitendra Yadav instructed officials to regularly monitor highways and take preventive action to minimise accidents caused by stray cattle. He also directed them to expedite construction of service lanes along the National Highway.
For the accident-prone area near Raj Imperial, the Collector ordered installation of half-mast lighting to improve visibility. He further instructed officials to identify accident-prone intersections and stretches and implement necessary corrective measures.

Timely e-DAR Entries Essential for Accident Victims
The Collector pointed out that several road accident cases in the district are not being entered correctly and on time on the e-DAR portal, creating difficulties for accident victims in accessing treatment and healthcare benefits under the Prime Minister’s relief scheme.
He directed concerned departments and hospital staff to undergo necessary training on the online process.
The Collector instructed police officials to verify accident cases on the e-DAR portal within 24 hours of their online entry by hospitals and ensure that the entire process is completed within the prescribed timeframe.
Up to Seven Days of Treatment and ₹1.50 Lakh Cashless Package
During the meeting, officials provided information about the relief scheme under which road accident victims can receive treatment for up to seven days, along with a cashless treatment package of up to ₹1.50 lakh, as applicable under the scheme.
The Collector directed all private hospitals and trauma centres in the district to register eligible road accident cases under the scheme and ensure that victims receive its benefits without delay.
Better Coordination Between Departments
The Collector instructed the Health Department to ensure that staff members of all government and private hospitals are familiar with the e-DAR portal and the online procedure related to the relief scheme.
