The Agriculture Department has intensified inspections of pesticide dealers across Rajnandgaon district to ensure that farmers receive quality and standard agricultural inputs and to prevent illegal or non-compliant pesticide trading.
So far, officials have inspected 122 pesticide sale premises across the district and initiated action wherever violations were detected. As part of the enforcement drive, nine pesticide licences have been suspended, pesticide sales have been prohibited at 22 centres, and the licence of one sales centre has been cancelled.
Action Against Substandard Pesticides
The department has also prohibited the sale of eight substandard pesticides and issued notices to the concerned manufacturing companies.
Officials said the inspection campaign is aimed at protecting farmers from unauthorised and poor-quality agricultural inputs and ensuring compliance with the applicable pesticide regulations.
Surprise Inspections Following Complaints
Deputy Director of Agriculture Tikam Singh Thakur said surprise inspections were conducted at various pesticide dealers following complaints received by the department.
During inspections, Sahu Krishi Kendra, Abhishek Krishi Kendra and Gayatri Krishi Kendra in Lal Bahadur Nagar, along with Devangan Krishi Kendra in Dongargarh, were found allegedly trading pesticides in violation of the Insecticides Act and applicable rules.

Regular Monitoring to Protect Farmers
Thakur said regular inspections of pesticide, fertiliser and seed dealers are being conducted across the district to safeguard farmers’ interests and ensure the availability of quality agricultural inputs.
He added that action will continue against dealers found trading agricultural inputs in violation of rules, selling substandard products or conducting business without the required documents.
The Agriculture Department has made it clear that compliance with licensing and quality standards will remain under continuous scrutiny to prevent farmers from being exposed to unauthorised or substandard agricultural products.
