Chhattisgarh Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to the dignified rehabilitation of families affected by Naxal violence and surrendered Maoists who have returned to the mainstream. He said the government is implementing rehabilitation measures with sensitivity, ensuring financial support, employment opportunities, and access to welfare schemes to help beneficiaries rebuild their lives.

Speaking at a cheque distribution programme held at his residence office in Rajnandgaon, Dr. Raman Singh distributed financial assistance to beneficiaries under the Chhattisgarh Surrender and Naxal Victim Rehabilitation Policy, 2025.

₹60 Lakh Assistance for 15 Naxal-Affected Families

Under the rehabilitation policy, 15 Naxal-affected families received financial assistance of ₹4 lakh each, amounting to a total of ₹60 lakh.

Dr. Raman Singh said the remaining four eligible families have already been sanctioned houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY).

He urged beneficiaries to take full advantage of government welfare schemes to achieve self-reliance and assured them that the district administration would provide assistance whenever required.

Support Beyond Financial Aid

The Assembly Speaker highlighted that, apart from financial assistance, eligible beneficiaries are receiving:

  • Employment opportunities.
  • Ration cards under the Chief Minister’s Food Scheme.
  • Ayushman health cards.
  • 50% concession on fares in state-run passenger buses.
  • Benefits under various government welfare programmes.

He said the government’s objective is not only to provide compensation but also to ensure long-term rehabilitation and social integration.

Collector Highlights Rehabilitation Progress

Rajnandgaon Collector Jitendra Yadav informed that the district administration has been continuously implementing the state’s rehabilitation policy for Naxal victims and surrendered cadres.

According to him:

  • A total of 19 Naxal-affected families have been identified in the district.
  • 16 eligible family members of deceased victims have already been provided government jobs based on eligibility.
  • 17 families had earlier received ₹24 lakh as financial assistance.
  • All identified families have been provided ration cards, Ayushman cards, and transport concessions.

He added that under the Rehabilitation Policy-2025, 15 families received ₹60 lakh in financial assistance during the programme, while the remaining four have already been sanctioned PMAY houses.

Rehabilitation of Surrendered Maoists

Collector Jitendra Yadav stated that the district currently has 16 surrendered Maoists, of whom:

  • 10 have been provided government employment as per policy.
  • Five surrendered Maoists have received ₹24 lakh as reward money.
  • 13 surrendered Maoists have already been provided ₹25 lakh under a Central Government rehabilitation scheme.
  • They have also been extended self-employment training, ration cards, Ayushman cards, 50% bus fare concession, and government accommodation in the police lines.

During the programme, 13 surrendered Maoists received ₹5,000 each as ex gratia and incentive assistance, amounting to ₹65,000 in total. The remaining three beneficiaries had earlier received ₹30,000 each under previous policy provisions.

The programme was attended by Komal Singh Rajput, Additional Collector C.L. Markandey, public representatives, and district officials.
