Incident Near Patal Bhairavi Temple Triggers Panic; Cause of Fire Under Investigation

Five Buses Reduced to Ashes in Major Fire
Panic spread across the Basantpur area of Rajnandgaon on Saturday after a massive fire suddenly broke out at the Dada Travels depot located near Patal Bhairavi Temple.
Five buses parked inside the depot were completely destroyed after being engulfed by the flames. Thick clouds of smoke were visible from a considerable distance, drawing the attention of residents and passersby.
Fire Spread Rapidly Across Depot
According to eyewitnesses, smoke was first noticed rising from the depot premises during the afternoon hours.
Within a short span of time, the fire intensified and spread rapidly to buses parked close to one another. The flames quickly engulfed the vehicles, and all five buses were soon seen burning fiercely.
The seats, tyres, and other combustible materials inside the buses further fueled the blaze, causing flames to rise high into the air and making firefighting operations more challenging.
Fire Brigade Launches Immediate Response
Upon receiving information about the incident, local residents alerted the fire brigade and police authorities.
Firefighters rushed to the scene and immediately launched an operation to contain the blaze. After considerable effort, the fire brigade succeeded in bringing the situation under control and prevented the flames from spreading to nearby vehicles and surrounding properties.
Police Begin Investigation
A team from Basantpur Police Station also reached the site and took charge of security arrangements during the firefighting operation.
The exact cause of the fire has not yet been determined. Preliminary indications suggest the possibility of an electrical short circuit or another technical malfunction, although no official confirmation has been issued so far.
Losses Expected to Run Into Lakhs
Authorities have not yet established how many of the damaged buses were operational and how many were out of service or awaiting disposal.
However, the incident is believed to have caused losses worth several lakhs of rupees to the travel company. The exact financial impact will be determined after a detailed assessment and investigation are completed.
No Casualties Reported
No injuries or loss of life were reported in the incident.
Timely intervention by the fire brigade helped avert a larger disaster, and the situation was brought under control before the fire could spread beyond the depot premises. Officials have initiated further inquiries to ascertain the precise cause of the blaze.
