Haji Rais Ahmed Shakeel, President of the Jama Masjid Muslim Society in Rajnandgaon, has emphasized the immense spiritual significance of Shab-e-Qadr, which falls during the last ten days of the holy month of Ramadan.

In a statement issued here, he said that Shab-e-Qadr is considered one of the most sacred and blessed nights in Islam. Worship performed during this night is believed to carry greater reward than the prayers offered over a thousand months. Because of this immense significance, devotees spend the night engaged in prayers, seeking forgiveness (Istighfar), reciting the Holy Quran and offering supplications for their lives, the hereafter and for the forgiveness of their departed loved ones.

Shakeel explained that after the completion of the 26th fast of Ramadan, the 27th night is widely observed as Shab-e-Qadr. For this reason, believers remain awake during these nights, devoting themselves to worship and seeking Allah’s mercy and forgiveness. They also pray for peace and harmony in their neighbourhoods, cities and the country.

According to him, this year Shab-e-Qadr will be observed on Monday, March 16. Several nights during Ramadan are considered especially blessed, and prayers offered during these nights are believed to have a greater chance of being accepted. Among them, the 27th night holds particular importance, when large numbers of devotees gather in mosques to offer prayers.

He also urged the faithful to search for the night of Shab-e-Qadr during all the odd-numbered nights of the last ten days of Ramadan and dedicate themselves to worship during these spiritually significant nights.

Shakeel further noted that with the beginning of the last ten days of Ramadan from the 21st night onward, the special spiritual practice of Itikaf also begins. During Itikaf, devotees stay in mosques and devote themselves entirely to worship, distancing themselves from worldly activities.

He appealed to the Muslim community to actively participate in prayers during these sacred nights as they do every year.

He also mentioned the significance of Alvida Juma, the last Friday of Ramadan, when a large number of devotees gather in mosques with deep devotion to offer the Friday prayers. On this occasion, imams from various mosques lead the congregational prayers and special prayers are offered for peace and prosperity in the city and across the country.

Throughout the month of Ramadan, arrangements for Iftar are organized by mosque committees and members of the community, where hundreds of fasting devotees gather to break their fast together. Such gatherings strengthen bonds of brotherhood and promote messages of love, humanity and unity.

Shakeel said that sincere worship and a spirit of openness toward others bring inner peace and strengthen faith. The holy month of Ramadan, he added, brings a message of mercy, forgiveness and blessings.

He concluded by praying that Allah accepts the prayers of all believers and blesses the nation with peace, harmony and prosperity.
