Festival Showcases Tribal Heritage

The theme of the event was “From Tradition to Identity”, highlighting the rich cultural heritage of tribal communities. Artists from several states including Telangana, Odisha, Maharashtra and Jharkhand participated alongside tribal artists from Chhattisgarh.

Representatives from 43 tribal communities gathered on a single platform, presenting their traditional attire, art forms, crafts and cuisines. The festival’s tribal painting and traditional costume showcase earned recognition from the Golden Book of World Records.

During the program, the Chief Minister also enjoyed a grand attire show featuring participants dressed in traditional costumes representing all 43 tribal communities of the state.

Sai said that initiatives like these are crucial in a tribal-dominated state like Chhattisgarh, as they provide opportunities for education while also promoting cultural pride and heritage.

Museums Preserve Tribal History

The Chief Minister highlighted the importance of the two museums located at the TRTI campus. One museum is dedicated to the life and legacy of tribal freedom fighter Veer Narayan Singh.

He noted that on November 1, 2025, during the silver jubilee celebrations of the state’s formation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the country’s first digital Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Memorial and Tribal Freedom Fighters Museum, which showcases the contribution of tribal heroes in India’s freedom struggle.

Another museum depicts the traditions of tribal life, including rituals associated with birth, marriage and death, along with traditional attire and customs. The Chief Minister emphasized the need to preserve these cultural traditions in the face of rapid modernization.

Focus on Tribal Welfare

The Chief Minister said the welfare of tribal communities has become a national priority under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi. He also mentioned that the election of Droupadi Murmu, who comes from a tribal background, to the country’s highest constitutional office is a matter of pride for the entire tribal community.

Development in Naxal-Affected Areas

The Chief Minister also highlighted the Niyad Nellanar Yojana, an initiative aimed at delivering essential facilities like roads, electricity, drinking water, healthcare and education to tribal villages in Naxal-affected areas of Bastar.

He said the scheme is helping connect remote tribal communities with mainstream development and ensuring that government welfare schemes reach them directly.

Ministers Applaud the Initiative

Ramvichar Netam said that several major initiatives have been taken to promote tribal heritage and welfare under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai. He highlighted that the state currently operates 3,357 ashram hostels, 17 Prayas schools and 75 Eklavya Model Residential Schools for tribal students.
