Lions Club Organises Colourful Kite Festival at State School Ground

A kite flying competition was organised on Tuesday at the State School Ground in Rajnandgaon under the aegis of the Lions Club, witnessing enthusiastic participation from children across the city. The event revived the city’s long-standing tradition of kite flying and created a festive atmosphere throughout the venue.
Saksham and Samarth Hariharno of the renowned Hariharno family from Nandai secured the first position in the competition with their impressive skills and coordination. Their performance stood out among the participants, earning them the top honours of the event.
Kite flying has been an integral part of Rajnandgaon’s cultural tradition for decades, especially during occasions such as Makar Sankranti, Independence Day (August 15), and Republic Day (January 26). Continuing this tradition, the competition aimed to promote cultural values and provide a joyful platform for children to showcase their talent.

The winners were felicitated by Tourism Corporation Chairman Neelu Sharma and Editor of Nandgaon Times Ashok Pandey, who encouraged the children and appreciated the efforts of the organisers.
During the competition, the sky was filled with vibrant and colourful kites, adding to the celebratory mood at the ground. Although the number of participants and spectators was limited, the programme remained engaging and successful.
The audience congratulated the winning children and wished them a bright and promising future.
