Rare visual showcase in Raipur draws students, cultural enthusiasts, and visitors from India and abroad

A photo exhibition dedicated to preserving and promoting Chhattisgarh’s rich folk dances and traditional art forms is drawing wide appreciation in the state capital. Organised by CLOUD, the exhibition aims to take the state’s unique folk culture to the masses and inspire the younger generation to remain connected with their cultural roots.

Visitors at the exhibition witnessed the colourful and vibrant artistic traditions of Chhattisgarh, particularly from the Bastar region. Students from Bhanupratappur in Bastar, after viewing the photographs, expressed pride in their heritage, chanting “Aamcho Bastar, Sughar Bastar.” People from all age groups actively participated, capturing photographs and sharing reels on social media, thereby amplifying the reach of the event beyond the exhibition hall.

The initiative, conceptualised by Dipendra Diwan, is intended not only to preserve Chhattisgarh’s folk dances and folk art but also to present them on a global platform. Diwan emphasised that such cultural programmes should continue regularly so that future generations can experience the state’s rich traditions.

Wide Participation and Appreciation
Several eminent personalities attended the exhibition, including Railway Commercial Officer Rakesh Singh, senior journalists Sarita Dubey and Kuldeep Shukla, and corporate teams from Nokia and Tata Consultancy Services, all of whom praised the artistic presentation.

Special attention was drawn by Dipika Mishra, who travelled from Melbourne, Australia. A former resident of Raipur and now an Australian citizen, she described the exhibition as deeply emotional, stating that she dearly misses the “fragrance of her soil” and proudly remarked, “Chhattisgarhiya sabse badhiya.”

Dhanlaxmi Mishra, a college professor, described the exhibition as extremely valuable for the younger generation, highlighting its educational and cultural significance.

Photographers and Cultural Message
Photographs by Dipendra Diwan, Akhilesh Bharos, Dhaneshwar Sahu, Harsha Sindoor, and Shaurya Diwan are on display. Through powerful imagery, the exhibition not only presents visual beauty but also conveys a strong message about conserving folk life, cultural diversity, and traditional practices of Chhattisgarh.

Participants from other states and districts also expressed admiration for the state’s cultural diversity. A group of PhD scholars from Bilaspur attended the event and appreciated its academic and cultural relevance. Tourism entrepreneurs were also present to explore potential employment and cultural tourism opportunities linked to folk art.

Exhibition Details
The exhibition will continue until January 4, 2026, at Kala Veethika, Mahant Ghasidas Campus, Ghadi Chowk, Raipur. Entry is free for all, and the exhibition remains open daily from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm, offering an inclusive opportunity for students, researchers, cultural scholars, and the general public to experience Chhattisgarh’s cultural heritage.
