5.174 Kg Ganja Seized in Dongargarh, One Arrested

Cannabis Worth ₹2.58 Lakh and Motorcycle Seized; Total Seizure Valued at ₹3.03 Lakh, Action Under NDPS Act

Dongargarh Police have arrested a man with 5.174 kg of ganja as part of action against the illegal transportation of narcotic substances. Police seized packets containing ganja from the accused, with the recovered contraband estimated to be worth ₹2,58,700.

A HF Deluxe motorcycle bearing registration number CG 08 AS 3992, allegedly used for transporting the ganja, was also seized. The motorcycle is valued at approximately ₹45,000, taking the total value of the seized material to ₹3,03,700.

According to police, on September 8, 2026, information was received from an informer that Farooq Khan alias Kari Ajju (45), a resident of Khuntapara, Dongargarh, was travelling towards Dongargarh from the Bortalav side on a motorcycle carrying a large quantity of ganja.

Acting on the information, a police team laid a cordon near Ansari Tyre and Ali Motors Repairing Centre at Chichdo Mor and intercepted the suspected motorcycle rider.

During the search, police recovered 5.174 kg of ganja from his possession. The ganja and the motorcycle allegedly used for its transportation were seized, and a case was registered against the accused under Section 20(B) of the NDPS Act.

The accused was arrested and produced before the court.

Cases Previously Registered Against Accused

According to police, cases related to narcotic substances and excise offences had also previously been registered against Farooq Khan alias Kari Ajju.

Police stated that the following cases were found registered against him:

  • Crime No. 484/2025 — Section 20, NDPS Act
  • Crime No. 238/2026 — Section 36(C), Excise Act
  • Crime No. 578/2024 — Section 36(C), Excise Act

Action Conducted Under Senior Officers’ Direction

The action was carried out under the direction of Rajnandgaon Superintendent of Police Ankita Sharma, guidance of Additional Superintendent of Police Keertan Rathore, and supervision of SDOP Dongargarh Keshari Nandan Nayak.

Police said continuous monitoring is being maintained on individuals involved in illegal liquor, narcotic substances, betting and other anti-social activities, and further action against such elements will continue.

Trainee Deputy Superintendent of Police Suman Jaiswal, Sub-Inspector Om Sahu, and constables Leeladhar Mandloi, Kishan Chandra, Ajay Patle and Yogesh Sahu made a commendable contribution to the operation.
