In a significant spiritual initiative reflecting social harmony and faith, a grand pilgrimage to Giroudpuri Dham — the sacred birthplace of revered saint Guru Ghasidas — was formally flagged off from the district office of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Rajnandgaon on Wednesday.
A total of 24 buses carrying nearly 1,500 devotees and community members departed for the pilgrimage site, where a grand three-day religious fair is currently underway. Organisers said the initiative aims to enable maximum participation of devotees in the annual spiritual gathering and promote the message of social unity associated with Guru Ghasidas’s teachings.
The development and expansion of the pilgrimage site have been widely credited to former Chief Minister and current Assembly Speaker Raman Singh, whose efforts transformed Giroudpuri into a major religious destination in Chhattisgarh. Community representatives expressed special gratitude for the construction of the towering Jaitkham monument — considered taller than Delhi’s Qutub Minar — which has become a prominent symbol of faith and identity for followers.

The buses were ceremonially flagged off by district BJP president Komal Singh Rajput along with MLA representative Santosh Agrawal. Several party leaders, office-bearers, elected representatives, and social activists were present on the occasion, underscoring the collective community participation in the event.
Speakers at the programme emphasised that Giroudpuri Dham is not merely a pilgrimage destination but also a centre of social awakening, equality, and spiritual consciousness. They noted that the annual यात्रा has been organised regularly to ensure that more people from the community can benefit from visiting the sacred site and participating in religious activities.
The programme concluded with prayers and best wishes for a safe, successful, and spiritually fulfilling journey for all pilgrims.
