Transport and Traffic Departments conduct checks on 16 safety parameters, including VLTD and panic buttons

In compliance with the safety directions issued by the Supreme Court for school students, the Transport Department and Traffic Department conducted an inspection of school buses at the Police Reserve Centre in Rajnandgaon on Monday.
Additional Regional Transport Officer Anil Kumar Bhagat said that 101 school vehicles were inspected during the drive. The vehicles were checked on 16 safety parameters, along with the functioning of Vehicle Location Tracking Devices (VLTD) and panic buttons.
During the inspection, deficiencies were found in some vehicles. The concerned vehicle owners were directed to rectify the shortcomings and present the vehicles again for physical verification.
All school bus drivers appeared for the inspection in uniform along with their respective vehicles.

Traffic In-charge Navratna Kashyap instructed all drivers to operate vehicles at controlled speeds and strictly avoid driving under the influence of alcohol or any intoxicating substance. Drivers were also directed to wear the dress approved by the respective schools while operating school buses.
Conductors were instructed to ensure that children are allowed to get down from the bus only after it has come to a complete stop. They were also directed to ensure the safe crossing of roads by students.
The inspection drive was conducted by Transport Sub-Inspectors Sonam Lalchandani, Yenlal Chandrakar, Shivlal Singh Kanwar, Ramkaran Ratre, Mithilesh Kumar Mahar, Kapil Shrivastava, Milap Bareth, Ravikant Dewangan, Sukhdev Sahu, Yashoda Sahu, Ramakant, Keshav Rajput and Vipin Mehar.
