Joint operation by Basantpur Police and Cyber Cell leads to recovery of gold jewellery and stolen items

In a major breakthrough, police in Rajnandgaon have solved a burglary case involving theft worth ₹5.72 lakh from a locked house in the Basantpur थाना area, arresting four accused and recovering stolen valuables.
According to police officials, the incident took place in Chaukhadiyapara under the Basantpur police station limits. The complainant, Watan Singh Rajput, had filed a report on March 4, 2026, stating that unknown miscreants broke into his house while he was away with his family and decamped with gold jewellery, a mobile phone, and other valuables after breaking open the lock and almirah.
Acting swiftly, a joint team comprising Basantpur police and the cyber cell was formed under the direction of Superintendent of Police Ankita Sharma. The operation was carried out under the supervision of Additional SP Kirtan Rathore and City SP Vaishali Jain.
Using technical evidence and inputs from informants, police detained four suspects—Shankar Rajak, Nikhil Dhimar, Alok Bhojpuri, and Suresh Dhimar—who later confessed to the crime during interrogation.

Subsequently, the police recovered a 14-gram gold necklace and the iron rod used in the crime from Shankar Rajak, gold earrings from Nikhil Dhimar, and a gold mangalsutra from Suresh Dhimar. The recovered items account for a major portion of the stolen property, with total recovery valued at ₹5,72,604.
Police further revealed that the main आरोपी, Shankar Rajak alias Bantha, is a habitual offender with multiple prior cases of assault and burglary registered against him. All four accused have been formally arrested and sent to judicial custody.
The operation was led by Cyber Police Station प्रभारी Inspector Vinay Pammar and Basantpur थाना प्रभारी Aman Sahu, along with their respective teams. Officials stated that the successful resolution of the case has reinforced public confidence in law enforcement and strengthened the sense of security in the area.
