Rajnandgaon Municipal Corporation will organise PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana camps across residential colonies from August 21 to September 1. The evening camps will provide information, registration assistance and guidance on rooftop solar systems, with the objective of promoting clean energy and helping households reduce their electricity bills.

A Surya Sabha was organised in Keshotola village of Chhuriya block to promote the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. Collector Jitendra Yadav explained the registration, vendor selection, loan, subsidy and billing process to villagers. Rajnandgaon district has so far received 10,698 applications, with 5,036 solar plants installed and 3,575 beneficiaries receiving subsidies. During the programme, 200 fruit-bearing saplings, including mango, guava and amla, were also planted under the Awas Vatika initiative.

Rajnandgaon district has secured a leading position in grievance redressal under the CM Helpline, Collector Jitendra Yadav said while reviewing the weekly progress of government schemes. He directed officials to expedite Agristack claims, ensure adequate availability of fertilisers and seeds for farmers, take strict action against dairy analog products, and accelerate implementation of health and welfare schemes.

Rajnandgaon is set to become Chhattisgarh’s leading district in the Prime Minister Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, with over 4,117 rooftop solar plants installed and electricity bills of more than 1,200 households reduced to zero.

Dongargaon entrepreneur Raman Nahata has reduced his household electricity bill to nearly zero under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana by installing a 3 kW rooftop solar system. The solar installation also powers his electric vehicle, while his experience has encouraged others in the community to adopt clean energy solutions.

The Sahu family of Gathula village in Rajnandgaon has reduced its electricity bill to nearly zero after installing two 3 kW rooftop solar plants under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. With government subsidies and net metering benefits, the family has also created the potential for additional income through clean energy generation.

The Prime Minister’s Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana is helping consumers reduce electricity expenses while promoting clean energy adoption. Rajnandgaon resident and Energy Department representative Rupchand Bhimanani reported significant savings after installing a 3-kW rooftop solar plant, calling the initiative a visionary step toward energy self-reliance and environmental sustainability.
