As part of the second phase of the Gau Samman Ahwan Abhiyan, more than three lakh signatures collected in Rajnandgaon were submitted through the District Magistrate to the President of India, the Prime Minister, the Governor and the Chief Minister. Across the country, the campaign submitted memorandums supported by over 15 crore signatures, reiterating more than 30 demands related to cow protection and welfare.

The Chhattisgarh State Seeds and Agricultural Development Corporation Limited has launched a special campaign in Rajnandgaon to encourage farmers to participate in the Kharif 2026 seed production programme. Registered farmers will receive higher procurement prices, additional incentive payments and timely disbursement, with registration open until August 15, 2026.

Rajnandgaon district has stocked 14,686 quintals of seeds and over 63,700 metric tonnes of fertilisers for the Kharif 2026 season. More than 13,700 quintals of seeds and 80% of the available fertiliser stock have already been distributed to farmers as sowing operations continue across the district.

Rajnandgaon Collector Jitendra Yadav reviewed the progress of key government schemes during the weekly time-limit meeting, directing officials to accelerate the implementation of the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, HPV vaccination campaign and public grievance redressal. He also called for promoting low-water crops, strengthening nutrition programmes and ensuring timely execution of departmental targets.

The BJP Kisan Morcha organised a collective listening session of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Mann Ki Baat at the BJP district office in Rajnandgaon. BJP District President Komal Singh Rajput said the Prime Minister's direct interaction inspires confidence among farmers, while participants pledged to carry the programme's messages to every farmer through the Gaon-Gaon Chalo, Ghar-Ghar Chalo campaign.

The ongoing paddy procurement campaign in Rajnandgaon district has generated widespread enthusiasm among farmers. With streamlined arrangements and timely payments, the administration has ensured smooth operations across all procurement centres.

In a significant step towards groundwater conservation and sustainable farming, the Khursipar Gram Sabha of Chhuria development block has unanimously decided not to cultivate paddy during the upcoming Rabi season. Farmers were encouraged to shift to less water-intensive crops and were made aware of the long-term benefits of crop diversification.

Under Collector Jitendra Yadav’s strict directives, joint teams of Revenue, Food, and Mandi Departments seized 215.60 quintals of illegal paddy on Saturday. With this, total seizures in the current season have touched 123 cases across the district.

As the new paddy procurement season begins in Rajnandgaon, a serious concern has surfaced — nearly 1.75 lakh quintals of rice from last year’s custom milling cycle is still undeposited with NAN and FCI. With an estimated market value of around ₹80 crore, the missing stock raises troubling questions about accountability, transparency, and the growing dominance of millers in the system.

Benefiting from the Minimum Support Price (MSP) and Krishak Unnati Yojana, farmer Santosh Devangan from Bhendikala expressed gratitude for timely paddy procurement at ₹3,100 per quintal and said the policy has freed him from taking loans while motivating him toward modern, double-crop farming.

Zila Panchayat member and Congress leader Mahendra Yadav has alleged that the Collector has orally instructed procurement societies in Dongargaon area to reduce paddy purchase, triggering widespread anger among farmers. Yadav warned that he will take to the streets with farmers if their full produce is not procured.

Collector Jitendra Yadav carried out an unannounced inspection of paddy procurement centres across Tumdibod, Tilairwar, Maharajpur and Kohka on Wednesday. He reviewed registers, daily procurement records, and on-ground arrangements, instructing officers to strictly maintain farmer-friendly facilities and adhere to procurement norms.
